Look Guys,
The Accent is about as safe as any modern small car is going to get. Only the Nissan Versa is considered safer due to less resistance when confronted with a side impact. My 2007 GS is my second Accent. The last model I owned was a 1998 GL, before I traded it in. I was going to school in up Canada, and went to Detroit to go get my car serviced by Precision Tune. Wherever I go I trust them. Also, they are among the only types of shops that seem to know what they are doing with an Accent. A cheaper Alternative as opposed to going to a Hyundai Dealer.
Anyway, back to the story. I was driving my old 1998 in a snow storm at 50 MPH or 90 KPH for my Canadian Friends, when a 2 ton Buick hit me in my left fender going at 50 MPH also. The only damage was a bumper I popped out on my own, and a broken light assembly. That would have destroyed a 98 Civic. Remember, Hyundai makes tanks for the South Korean Military, as well as other Asian militaries. Iam quite sure after that experience that some of that tank technology got pased down to the cars.
Yet there is still people who rather buy overpriced cars from former bike makers with resale values and realibility ratings based on 10-20 year old cars. Plus their relaibility ratings are declining every year; silly arent they. According to Top Gear, the 2008 Civic is not as good as the last generation Civic, by the way.

im glad to here you guys agree. today the papers came late and i was out deliver papers while these monsters are being driven the worst imo when people our in a hurry to get to work. I know the gas prices going is a bad thing but i hope more people follows me and gets out of there truck or suv and get what they actually need. also imo not only oil company are happy. banks, some car dealers. I would bet if some of these people like theses monsters give a small car like the Accent a try they might like and if there looking for a status symbol get a small car that has everything on it. Im pretty sure a fully loaded little car even like the accent or even the honda civic is much cheaper then a chevy or ford full size suv. one other thing that make me just laugh is when i see a hummer H2 going down the road after watch the episode of top gear about that car had me just rolling over. why would you want something that big? If you have to have an suv how about a compact suv? of course then again i just may be repeating my self it just here were i live theres just to many of dam monsters but that will change or some people will start ridding the bike to work.
I second there to be a special driving test for SUVs like they way i got my CDL

My wife and I have one of those gas sucking pigs. It is a 03 Expedition eddie baur all leather cool and heated seats and I only cry when I go to the pump. Need the ford to tow my 27 foot trailer, We conversed, sell the trailer which is paid for or get another small car. We drove the suzuki FX4, honda fit, Nissan Versa, Ford escort, and then the Accent. Accent one for the the looks, price, gas milage, price and they threw in some 17 inch wheels with low profile tires to boot for free. Been three days still think it is a great looking car and does just fine for what we want, city driving.

This just in: Accent sales in June 2008 have shown a 70% increase over June 2007. :) They moved 6,914 as opposed to 4,067 last year. The Elantra and Sonata also showed a gain to a lesser degree (51% for the Elantra, 12% Sonata but still, those two outsell the snot out of the Accent!) press releaseAll in all, it was a terrible month for the industry with most having their sales drop over last year. Hyundai and Honda were some of the few who sold to the good, albeit only by 1% or so over last year. linkLots of people learned this month how great the lil' Accent is. :) I think people are getting the message. :whistling: Can fuel efficiency finally be on people's shopping list? This post has been edited by hoosieraccent: Jul 1 2008, 08:46 PM
