tjaliwalpa bob,

Here is the link to Hyundai UK

It only shows the 85kw 5 speed manual.

http://www.hyundai.co.uk/newCars/i30/technical/

I've read about the 66kw but not sure if on sale in UK yet.

I found details of the 66kw. Try this link
http://www2.hyundai-europe.com/#

Then click on the i30 microsite link at the bottom of the page.
Then click on Enter.
Then click skip (unless you want to watch the video).
Then click on Specification.

It shows the different engine sizes with a 1.6 crdi (high) and 1.6 crdi (low).

Not sure what performance stats are.

In the UK the annual road fund fee for the 1.6crdi (High) = £120
and for the 1.6crdi (low) = £35

That's quite a neat link you gave there :)

I've just watched all the vids, and clicked on all aspects of the vehicle - performance, style, interior, exterior.

Hi Lakes,

Did you ever get the chance to look under the car at the exhaust system?

Will be calling in dealers next week so I will ask if my diesel has CPF.

Hi eye30 still no time m8 was away all weekend, have 3,120k's up now, but i'm willing to bet on it what i saw was a CPF in my exhast system, but ask your dealer, it don't worry me i'll still run mine in on mineral turbo diesel. they say a friction aditive that was in petrol mineral base oil would damage Catalistic coverters in unlead fuel cars, but i saw tat runing without that aditive caused parts in some motors to wear out prematurely, so i have always ran my V8 on turbo diesel mineral base oil as it still has the anti friction aditive and after 206,000k no problem with catalistic converters. but when the 15,000k service is due it will get the fully synthetic smokeless oil and will run on that oil for life. talked to my oil suplyer he will get the right oil.

Hi Guys,

As posted on Owners club site...

I wrote an email asking what oil to use in Aussie Diesel i30's...

Official Reply from Hyundai Australia was that Aussie Model doesn't get Particulate Filter so can use any oil rated ACEA B4...

Very interesting (that makes for a lot more choice)

Rgds,

Dazz

Im using a mineral diesel oil, drained it after 1800km, oil was black but it wasnt overly dirty, still clean color when was warmed up, didnt feel gritty when rubbing it between thumb and index finger.

5 litres came out of the sump, so I just put 5 litres back in, didnt change the filter, what is annoying was that the fur covering on the sump got soaked in oil because the oil was left to drain for a while, annoying.

Got to have a close look at the turbo too, sits on the rear of the engine down low if anyone is wondering, tiny.

Now Dazz i'm confused! :) as what is that thing in my pipe that looks like a CPF? also on the i30 owners forum Thumper stated an exhaust company told him his pipe has a CPF in it. i don't think the girl at the desk knows m8 :)

Yeah must admit it's a bit confusing the name of the guy who answered is on "our" site... Anyone else who doesn't believe me or disputes the answer can get it clarified by going to the contact us link on Hyundai Aus website.

Cheers,

Dazz

Here is the official..official reply rec'd today (with a supporting PDF listing some suitable oils)

Dear Mr xxxxxx,

You can rest assured that the i30 is not fitted with a DPF and must use engine oil stating ACEA B4 specifications.

I have confirmed this twice with our national service manager.

See attachment below.
