I got the popular equipment package, and really regret not getting cruise control. Does anyone know my options for adding it on? I'm pretty sure that this hasn't been addressed in the forums yet, so it should be a new discussion for everyone. I wish I could get cruise for 300-500 bucks, but that seems unlikely. Any thoughts?

I found that audiovox one... It's like 90 dollars and seems pretty easy to install...

I'm just wary about putting holes in my dash, or doing something that's going to void my warranty.

The last time I asked my dealer in Vegas, they said they would install it for about $1,100. That's including the part. But I was like nnnaahhhh...

Holy crap that's expensive! That's 1/10th the price of a base model Accent. I definitely don't want it that bad.

Can't say I really miss it at all, actually. :)

Uh yeah, I can understand - that's quite a haul! I've done 6-6.5 hour drives in mine, it can get a little tiring. 8 would probably be painful.

Bah, a little? Haha. I have had surgery on my right knee, and it get's really tiring. I can't even last an hour and a half without my leg hurting. I think for the next trip I am gonna rig up a piece of wood or an old cane to where I can put it between the gas pedal and the seat. And there we go, redneck cruise control. Haha

or you can make a brake wedge. take an aluminum rod and flat aluminum. drill a hole in the flat a quarter inch bigger than the rod. put the rod through the hole and wedge between the seat and peddal. but i think its highly dangerous and very illigal. i have a bad right kneew too and some days i cant press the gas cuse it hurts to have it at an angle. so i drives with my left

i busted a bunch of soft tissue up in my right ankle a few years back (snowboarding) & was driving with my left foot only back then. recently i've gained a bunch of weight (must be all muscle :P) and my right ankle's been hurting (diet time lol - thank god kiteboarding season is coming so i can get some exercise) so if i have to drive a really long distance, i know i can always just switch back to driving with my left foot only. not thaaat hard.

heck, one time i had to drive myself to a clinic for stitches in my right palm after a scrap with my brother (heh) and my ankle was busted up still so it was left hand and left foot only!

I installed the AudioVox CCS 100 unit last weekend on my car (2007 accent gs hatchback) and it works great. Search amazon and you might find the unit cheaper. I got mine for like 68 bucks and the shipping was free. The install was not the easiest thing I've done on a car (and I've done alot of mods to alot of cars). Stuff you'll need that I didn't think about include the following. (I'll explain the rest after the tools list)
1) A hack saw blade
2) A good drill bit (must be made for cutting metal)
3) A very specific bolt (get to it later)
4) Wire nuts / crimp connectors.
5) Paitence.

I'll post a blow by blow of the install and I'll take pictures of my handi work when I get home from work tonight.

I emailed Rostra and asked if they had an RF cruise kit for the 2008 Accent. They said that they didn't and that I needed to buy the following.
250-1223 electric base kit
250-3742 control switch

The Audiovox CCS 100 is a vacuum type cruise control, whereas the one recommended to me by Rostra was an electric type.

Do any of you know which is the better kind of system?

I've heard really good things about the Rostra systems... They're a touch on the expensive side but they work good.

Electronic is the way to go over vacuum...
