I have a 97 elantra that has just gone threw its 2nd automatic transmission. It tends to be a trend for the 97's in most of the forums i read online. I was wondering if it would be possible to install a manual transmission instead of an automatic. If this is possible which i think it is what would i need. Is it even worth it and is it just worth selling my fair condition elantra that needs a new tranny for 500 and buying a new car.

changing over your vehicle to from auto is a mamouth job, it has been covered many times before on the forums (use the search engine) don't even think about it, it would be far better to trade it for another vehicle

Agreed. You'd have to rig up the shift linkage, change out the whole shifter assembly, add a clutch pedal, slave cylinder, change the ECU, etc etc etc.
Not worth it on any car if you ask me, especially one like this.
