My Hyundai has had a re-occuring problem & mechanics keep thinking they've fixed it but never do. The symptoms are; I'll be driving along normally & then I have to stop at lights or a round-about, when I stop the car feels like it is 'locked-up' then I go to take off & it won't accelerate, it feels 'stuck' so I put my foot down hard & the wheels screech(it feels like the drivers side wheel) & I proceed with a sudden jerk. Also sometimes if I'm on a slight rise I go to take off & it starts to roll back, it's an automatic, & I have to quickly put the hand brake on so I don't roll back into cars behind me & put my foot down hard once again. Anyone know what is going on here?

So I'm guessing no one knows the solution to my problem.

i thought it might be the brake on that side but if it rolls back on hills i'm thinking it might be a transmission problem, there might be a slipping clutch belt or similar, i'd get someone to look at the transmission,
good luck

Thanks tkjsprint, it turned out to be that I'd burnt out the clutch & my local auto transmission guy fixed it completely much to my relief!
