Has anyone had their car up on jacks yet?

I just measured the sump plug as a hex shaped 17mm, can anyone else confirm?

I borrowed some hex fitting sockets from a friend and I can confirm that it is indeed a 17mm hex socket, so if you are game to do your own servicing, go for it.

The filter is cartridge based, its located near the top of the motor. Where the letters "CRD" on the engine dust cover are, just south of that towards the radiator is a black cannister with a hex fitting, I havent measured that up as yet.

How do you take the dust cover off without damaging it?

Taking the dust cover off is simple. There are two bolts that need removing near the front half of the cover. Once these are removed, the cover can be lifted off. Some pressure is needed as it sits on two pins pushed into rubber grommets in the back half of the cover. Apply upward pressure and they these will pop off the metal pins.

I've done this to take pictures of the engine and the oil filter canister that was replaced to overcome fuel issues that prevented the engine from revving passed 2950rpm (see another post on this forum).

Was going to say the sump plug is 17mm, i saw the filter, just what will you do to remove it without a mess? it's upside down like i thought, as the oil leavel is lower when hot as you first turn motor off, but higher when cold. let me know what you use to catch the oil as you remove the filter, some of these new diesels use two oil filters.
