So, what's your A/V setup for watching the big game or American Idol or whatever you're into ? Post up some specs people, and some pics of your equipment if you have them (makes it more believable if you do :) )

No, I'm not gonna show you mine until you show me yours. Wait, that just sounds wrong ! :w00t:

Though i'll agree that sounded wrong (lol), I have a 50" Sony Bravia E series with a 700w Samsung digital surround sound system. Got the HD cable box with upgraded HDMI cables as well. My little sister works at BB so I need to thank her for some serious employee discount help.

Right on. That's the rear projection LCD, right ? Nice setup !

We've gone through somewhat of a TV fiasco here lately. To make a long story short, we had this Sony 60" Grand Wega, also 3 LED rear projection:

Attached Image

It was about two years old and something was wrong with a seal on the light engine, causing splotches on the screen to show up because of dust getting on the mirrors. Luckily we got the three year warranty (for $9.95) from Rex. Well, called them and they said they would just replace the TV since it was cheaper than a new light engine by this time.

While waiting on that to happen we went out and just got a Samsung 1080p 58" Plasma.

Attached Image

Absolutely love it ! I had no idea that the difference between standard HD and 1080i HD was so different until we saw our first 1080i broadcast - amazing !

Well Rex called back a few days later and said they couldn't get another TV like we had ... so after a couple of more phone calls they agreed to $1,300 in-store credit and they'd come get the broke TV.

That weekend we headed off to Rex and picked up this Panasonic 42" Plasma for the bedroom to replace our 27" regular TV.

We, obviously, got the wall mount bracket and HDMI cable to go with it. Go figure, the total came to $1,300 ! Yeah, go figure. Anyway, huge change for the bedroom. Of course we then had to go pick up another HD cable box for in there.

So we have the 58" Plasma in the living room and a Sony DAVFX900W DVD Dream Theater providing the Umph sound-wise - really dig the wireless rear speakers too ! I'm a huge Sony and Samsung fan. The tuner is a 1080i DVR with HDMI (Comcast - yippie).

So yeah, in the past month I've done a LOT of TV moving !

Great stuff. Yeah, I have the LCD rear projector. I bought that for myself after a full year of successfully not smoking. My sister got me the SS for my birthday. The only thing I need to complete it now is a good Blu-ray player. Have some other stuff to pay off first though.

Same boat as you my man - Blue-Ray is next on my list as well. I was kind of waiting to see who would win the format wars. Hopefully since that's over the prices of the players and the discs will drop.

If I recall, it's a tad over 2 years now and knock on wood - I've not had to replace the bulb. I do my best to keep the intake side clean since I've heard that proper cooling is one key to longevity.

-Mad, would your tv stand be a Sullivan that you "removed" the upper portion off of?

I think that's who makes it. But yeah, when we bought our first 50" Grand Wega it obviously wouldn't fit with the top on it and the shelving on the sides so I just lopped the entire top off of it. Much easier than finding a new location for all the equipment and DVDs. I could have bought something I guess but this mod was free !

I found a pic I took before cutting off the two front posts:

I had the same entertainment center for my old Sony 36" WEGA (flat CRT).

Here's a pic of my setup.
