Hello all, bought a 1997 Lantra Estate 1.8 CD yesterday been looking for a nice looking estate for a while but this one seemed to stand out so I bought it! Being 11 year old it has a few little problems that I would like to sort out, but as there is no Haynes manual which I've relied on a lot with my other cars I'm stuck.

The air con doesn't seem to work just blowing warm air, got no idea really under the bonnet where i need to recharge the system any ideas or help anyone could give would be great.
The rev counter seems to be stuck onto 2000ish revs and I have a cd player i would like to fit but not sure how to remove the factory fit cassette player?

Sorry for the questions straight away guys, been looking at the garage gallery and there are some stunning cars there!

Cheers all
Jeff

Hello there!

If u'r a/c doesn't work properly as u have said, then u should take the car to official Hyundai dealer so they can refill the coolant for a/c (it's the best option in my opinion-I wouldn't do this at home). For radio removal u have to: remove the illumination slider (for dashboard lights) with screw-driver, then remove the plastic around gear switch, then remove those bolts, and then pull the dash out.

Then again...how come didn't u see the rev counter just before u bought the car?? Careful when buying used car.

There is Haynes for Lantra/Elantra. Requires payment

cheers,
Mark

Search for radio removal and you should find plenty of stuff. Someone asks about that every month it seems.

And yes, there is a Haynes manual for 1996-2001 Elantras (I have it). I got mine from Parts Plus, but other parts stores carry it and Amazon probably does too.

Thanks for that I'll sort a manual out didn't realise that the elantra & lantra were exactly the same car.
Took car to have the air conditioning checked and apparently there is a leak on the passenger side front by the radiator somewhere and that it could be expensive? Think I'll wait to get a manual and have a look myself before I spend any money on it.

thanks
Jeff

Yes, these two names are close related - see here: link

I hope it's only a minor leak on a hose and not a damaged radiator(from car accident?).

cheers
