Their own marketing material has said repeatedly, in several locations, 368 with regular and 375 with premium.
www.hyundaigenesis.com - "specs" section
375 peak HP (note: ESTIMATED hp w/ premium fuel)
http://www.hyundaiusa.com/abouthyundai/new...2008_01_08.aspx368hp (ESTIMATE, presumably the regular fuel number)
You've read all the same stuff madderhatter - 368 / 375 regular / premium. Now the number is 358 premium. We lost 17hp. I mean, it's not to say the Tau is a slouch at 358 but presumably it'll be something like 350/358 regular/premium based on duke's latest tech spec sheet for Tau. I wonder where the HP went?
So we lost 17hp and gained $5000 on the estimated, guesstimated, projected price range of Genesis...
I think we'll just have to wait until it gets here and then see - on price and performance figures. Maybe before long someone will put one of the engines on a dyno, like HorsePower TV or whatever, but I'm not holding my breath. It's easier for them to go solely off of the manufacturers "estimated" specs.
While I've been preaching about getting a Genesis sedan since its inception, I think Hyundai is shooting themselves in the foot if a loaded V8 model is going to be in the mid-40s. That's not really undercutting the competition by much, if any. Case in point - I "built my own" Infiniti G35 Journey on-line and it came out to $40,925. Yesterday we went by the local dealer and they had one on the lot with the exact same options I chose (fully loaded except for AWD) with an MSRP on the sticker of $40,025. See attached .pdf if interested in what I chose. Additionally, the .pdf doesn't say what the packages contain that I chose so I'll state those too.
The Genesis has a few options that this car doesn't like a V8 w/60hp more, cooled front drivers seat, 6sp auto vs. 5sp, ... umm ... Then again, the G35 offers a few that the Genesis won't come with.

I know the track record of the G35 and what it brings to the table - including a 13.9 quarter mile and 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, for the automatic. Of course it is 500 pounds lighter than the V8 Genesis. But it also has the Z-motor so there are upgrades galore out there if so inclined.
I dunno guys (and gals), if the filly is going to cost more than the thoroughbred I might be having second thoughts. Of course these are just my personal opinions and thoughts. I can only hope that Hyundai has the sense to make a fully loaded V8 Genesis available for right at $40k, $39.5k sounds even better since you're not in that crowded 40k+ market.
No, this is not a pro-G35 post. :)
