My 2008 Elantra GLS, like my 2000 Elantra GLS has a horn that sounds like a dying cow. I changed out the horn on my 2000 model with few problems. How do I access the horn (in front of the radiator) to change it out? Also, are there any particular problems with wiring in a new, generic dual tone horn?

I replaced the horns on my Tib and my Tucson with OEM horns from an XG. They sound great and required no wiring modifications.

Nova, can you post a .wav file of what the XG horn sounds like? I, too, would like a more masculine horn for my '07 Elantra.

Thanks for the input on wiring compatibility! I guess what I need to know is how to remove the front bumper assembly, since this is apparently what I must do to access the horn.

Thanks!

Why would you have to remove the front bumper? The horn is right in front:

You can probably reach it from underneath or by removing just the grille.

Also, you can adjust (slightly) the tone of the horn by adjusting the screw on the back:

I have a 2005 Tucson and I hated the wimpy horn sound. I bought a freeway blaster from Harbor Freight and replaced one of the two horns. Now I can blast the horn like the big trucks. The other horn is for the remote locking alert and I think it also blasts along with the other one when sounded.
