Hi All, well i got out and went for a run up the Sydney Newcastle Freeway yesturday, and the After market Cruise Control works perfect, it even works better than the one on my V8 ute that is factory fitted by Ford Aust. i set the CC @ 103 KPH (61mph) off my Garmin GPS ( i can set my Garmin to read KPH or MPH) the rev in 5th gear was just a tad over 2,000, anyone that knows the sydney Newc freeway heading north know there are some very steep declined and inclines and that little CRDi motor held spot on tghe KPH i set and in 5th gear never dropped even one KPH off up those hills, down the hill could gain sone speed but if you wanted you could use 4th gear to get the motor to hold the speed through engine braking , if you come up on a slower moving car you can push a button and it coasts then take pressure off the button and it goes back to the speed you set, or you can use your brake it turns the CC off or you can push the off button, there is a button to accelerate and a button to decelerate two buttons one side of wheel near bottom and two on other side near bottom of the horn out of the way and do not noticibly stand out are same colour as the wheel . i'm very happy don't need to keep foot in one possition on long trips.
On another topic, all you CRDi jockey's just watch that speedo as these little beasts are so smooth you can go up to speeds and not relise you are going so fast! so take care or could get in trouble, specially on roads like the Sydney Newcastle Freeway or other roads like that. John

Also interested to know how it especially displays the cruise status etc ie. does it integrate with the centre console panel, or does the CC have lights of its own installed somewhere else? I'm not sure where the standard Hyundai petrol CC has its cruise status displayed - perhaps some SR petrol owners could advise?
But John yes it would be great to see some photos! :)

This is not a factory CC and does not have any visible disply, but for myself it is not needed as i have driven 500,000k in the past 7 years and used CC all the time, and had a read out on CC status in the disply but i never needed to look. but for someone that does not use them all the time might be different but it works on same prisipal as the SR just the SR matches the sound system buttons but my Falcon has sound sytem buttons and matching CC buttons on wheel and i have never once used the sound system buttons. also some people feel the CC that works off a colum switch to be the best type to use. but i have used that type in a Chev driving across USA also in a MB but i prefer this type just i feel this aftermarket set up to be easier to use if you are not looking as you just get to know possition of the different buttons with the SR ones they are all in a bunch but you get used to anything if you drive it enough. i'll try and take pictures tonight but i'm telling you now they suit the style of the SX but might look wrong on the SLX as it has the sound system buttons. but i'm not the type to look for the best look but i like the easiest and most functional things just telling you to try to explain, like i would describe myself as a driver that gets satisfaction from driving something that feels good and everything works well, rather than someone that likes to look in a car to see how nice it looks, take a look in an F1 race car. thats why i could not enjoy driving the SR unless it had that gem of a motor CRDi. but thats just me.

QUOTE(dazzling_darryl @ May 5 2008, 04:58 AM) Hi John,
Sounds like you are as pleased with the CRDi as you were expecting to be!
Is that correct?
Dazz
Yes Dazz, love the little car, and that motor is why! i did some checking and found the dealer's crew did not set all the tyre pressures the same so i got them all the same with a digital pressure gauge that i have had tested, set them all at 35psi, after the run sunday i checked and they were all running cool not sure if that is ideal pressure but the Kumho? felt ok i took a few corners quick enough on some back roads, will wait for some rain and also till after i take it up the bell line road, then i will know how well it goes and handles, would also like to check it up the braidwood to batemans Bay stretch of road that is a good test of what a car handles like and how it handles hills. it's nice in traffice like i expected it would be.

Sometimes it's better not using flash, because of harsh reflections on shiny surfaces.
Being a photographer myself, here's a tip you might want to consider:
(1) set the camera on "No Flash" and "Self-Timer".
(2) try "squeezing" the Cybershot through the back at the bottom of the i30's driver's headrest (you'll have to lift the headrest, naturally), then ZOOM IN (most photos are terrible because people just don't zoom in enough) and frame the shot.
(3) Hold the camera steady. or better still, let the camera sit still on its own if possible, activate the self timer, let the camera take the shot ... the photo should be as sharp as tack, and with good detail too without the harsh flash (but make sure you have good ambient light ie. the car is outdoors during day).
We'll all do ANYTHING to help you take this glorious shot of the CC ........ :)
