Hi, guys.

I replaced front brakepads (Satisfied Pro Ceramic, Model: PR924-C) today; however, realized that the width of pads are little smaller than the OEM so they do not cover the inner surface of rotor completely. I have tested the braking about 20mi and seems fine, but I am concerned that using pads not perfectly covering the surface of rotor might cause the problems later.

I am driving 2006 Sonata GLS V6 (Production date: 10/31/2005) and here is the pads info:

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail....ype=219&PTSet=A

Did I install the right pad? The pad description said it's for 2006 Sonata V6. I wonder how other aftermarket pads are covering the surface of rotor? Any suggestion is appreciated.

Out of curiosity, was it difficult to replace the brake pads yourself? I'm thinking about doing the work myself, as well... Also, how many miles do you have on your '06? I also have an '06 and I'm trying to determine if it's time to replace mine. Looks like mine are pretty well worn down. I have 33k on my Sonata. I bought it used about 3 weeks ago... Thanks!

should be fine methinks

I've seen stock pads that the swept area doesn't quite cover the entire rotor. It leaves a ridge on the outer diameter of the rotor, but it's usually harmless. If you go to a larger pad later on, you may have some issues. If the ridges are not real high and wide, they will cut themselves a harmless groove in the pad after a few gentle stops. Otherwise, you may need to touch up the rotors to prevent noise and rotor warpage.

I have to agree with bobad, There is normally no performance issues with a smaller fitting pad. The only disadvantage is that the rotors will need to be replaced if they wear a deep ridge in them.

I'm kida shocked they don't cover the entire surface, wouldn't the breaking power be better if there was more surface covered?

Does anyone know a ceramic pad that covers the entire swept area of rotor? I really hate to replace rotors because of deep ridge developed after using smaller pads.

Actually I had a local shop replaced the pads. I was watching the replacement procedure, and it looked fairly easy with proper tools. My one had about 34.7K and the pad was about 1/8" thick.

Rotors should be machined when replacing pads, to ensure that there is a flat, level surface for the new pads to grip into.
Also, having the machining grooves will help break the brake pad in. Pun, what pun? :whistling:
