Hi Folks,

I got my dashmat today, see photos. It cost $50 via Autobarn and took about 3 weeks to come (special order)

Stitching is better than the last Getz one I got but hole for the sensor in middle of dash and catch for dashtop compartment aren't very well aligned (round hole for sensor was only half perforated had to finish removing it myself)

Sunland quality control seems poor I'll post a couple of pix of my Getz mat as well if I can find them (That was a shocker and they just ignored my email when I complained)

Cheers

Dazz

Dazz,

That dashmat is somewhat different than the Hyundai accessory mat. I shall take a pic of ours asap and post it on here.

Careful Dave,

I agree, but the moderators might not like comments like that.

Each to his own, I guess.

Are the mats primarily for sunlight protection?

Can't see me needing one up here then.

Hey Shambles, i'm wondering the same mate? i had one of those mats once on a car and have never used them since, but if your GF has long legs like my one has and she puts her feet up on the dash all the b loody time they might use them for that? :) i have not noticed a problem without useing dash mats, but i like to use sun defectors or what ever we call them, while car is parked as keeps heat in car down, thats why i prefer colours like white or silver as inside temps of car while parked can get to extreams here mate. that Black you have would get hot!! but everyone around my area seem to buy black cars, so go figure. in the movies the good guys wear white the bad guys wear black, and the crooks have dark tinted windows :P

Hey Lakes mate.

Why would your GF put her long legs on the dash, presumably whilst driving....?

Isn't that illegal in your state?

Over here we have a system called "park and ride". I wonder if that's what you need over there

Because of the harsh sun and UV (even in tassie) a lot of dash tops used to crack in Aus and also the Mat sometimes helps with reflection of dash in the screen.

By the way Lakes.. after what you said, forget about pix of the car (rather see pix of the G.F.) :P

Cheers,

Dazz

Just a few pics of the genuine Hyundai accessory dash mat. Admittedly a bit more expensive. Does not cover as much of the dash as the version Dazz has.

Hi Bob (and others)

Thanks for the pix. Like some things skimpy :P but not my dash mats.

Did some subtle handwork with sharp scissors today and now really happy with fit of my mat. IMO the Sunland one looks more balanced and hides my GPS wire too. :)

Cheers,

Dazz

Well you learn something everyday. I had never even heard of a dash mat - it looks quite bizzarre, however, if it stops dash tops cracking...

Global warming will need a few more years to really kick in before we will need them over here.

Hey Shambles, it's not what you think m8 :) , ask the boys here it's quiet normal to see babe's put there feet up on the dash while you drive, i don't know why m8, probably want a suntan on there feet? i'm not into dash mats myself i think last time i had a car with one was back in about 84, then just stopped useing them, never had a problem but, some parts of australia i have seen plastic things melt when left on the dash. specially up queensland and Northern Territory. but mostly when you park the cars outside for long periods. i just use a silver sun defector behind widscreen when i park keep inside cooler. Dazz is right about the sun in Tassie, it is something to do with Tassie being close to the Ozone i think? they have beautiful beachs and the water is freezing, up here the water is a bit warmer.
Hey Shambles also mate we all wear thong's ( on our feet ) :)
Cheers

Hi Highwayman & Lakes.

Each to their own but after having had a dashmat in our last few cars the dash looks a bit "naked" without one. It sort of gives the car a sort of cosy feel.

As mentioned before in some cases it also reduces the reflection of the dash in the windscreen although some of the so called UV proof materials have a sparkly type of fibre which offsets that benefit.

Cheers,

Dazz
