First tank in new car. Filled until first click of pump. 70% city and 30% rural. 360.1/10.08 US gallons = 35.72miles/gallon. I have been keeping RPM's between 2K and 4K per the break in instructions in manual. It also says to not idle for than 3 minutes at a time. Lots better than my Titan which would get about 13.5 miles/gallon doing the same type of driving. I say the Accent is a keeper!

50.3-53mpg here.
Stop+start and a bit of A road (60-80mph)
10 litres gets me 110 miles+ day in day out

QUOTE(rugbyPete @ Jun 27 2008, 04:39 AM) That's the Imperial Gallon? Yes, its nice to hear you're getting about the same as my US Accent is giving me. My last 3 Accent tanks, while traveling over 1400, 3000, 4000, & 5500 foot mountain passes nailed down 42.6, 45.1, & 41.5 MPG. This post has been edited by litesong: Jul 8 2008, 08:29 PM

Awesome mileage, the people at Yaris world seem to think the Yaris is gods gift and nothing gets better mileage lol. So this shows the accent more then holds its own with that car! nice. I bet you drive like a egg is on the gas and brake pedal though right?

So this shows the accent more then holds its own with that car! nice. I bet you drive like a egg is on the gas and brake pedal though right? Yes, Pryme...The simultaneous high MPG & altitude gains are outrageously fine! Possibly the Accent's lower geared 5th gear had something to do with it. If the Accent had had a higher geared 6th gear, I may have been tempted to use the 6th gear more on the less sloped terrain at least. Using a 6th gear may have bogged the engine, & lowered the MPG from what I did obtain with the 5th gear. But I don't know about that. I wouldn't dump on Yaris's too much tho. I reported in other threads here, Yaris & Honda Fit owners got 48MPG & almost 45MPG, respectively. Now tho, I no longer have to worry that buying my wife's Accent caused lesser MPG than if I had bought Yaris or Fit. & we saved a passel of money over comparably equipped Yaris & Fit. I'm careful on the gas pedal. But I'm best adjusting for the differing little & big hills coming my way, changing my potential & kinetic energies. Being easy on the gas pedal is NOT the answer to good MPG when on hills & mountains, major & minor. This post has been edited by litesong: Jul 5 2008, 09:48 PM

QUOTE(nobodieshero07 @ Jul 6 2008, 01:23 AM) well i dont know what ou guys willhave to say buut, i just got my car back from the paint shop on wednesday. i filled up that night, and sice then ive drive 100 km and im almost at a half tank... that means ive lost 50% in f/e wtf? i did an ecu reset cuse i thought that was the prob having only been driven for a few minutes and a few yards every day for two weeks and sucking in paint dust... should i spray off my air filter too or buy a new one? a 50% loss is really sufficent and its got me worried. the guys that painted my car sucked and broke allt he trim peices on the hatch. it was a big fight to get them to replace those and i dont know if i have much of a case to go on if i challenge them to engine distress and loss of f/e since i did the intake my self. what should i do??? 100km half a tank i sooooooo bad mpg. I dont know if it is the air filter, but if it is Ill buy a new one. What did the body shop worked on? Did you paint your interior?

milage is kinda all over the place here... just filled up today, did much better!
DATE QUANT PRICE ODO(miles) MPG MILES/tank 07-16-08 9.13gal 4.15 4977 31.52 288 :) 07-10-08 9.07gal 3.96 4689 31.42 285 :) 06-29-08 9.00gal 3.99 4404 29.68 267 06-21-08 8.78gal 4.09 4137 30.29 266 06-13-08 8.77gal 3.99 3871 31.22 274 :) 06-05-08 7.60gal 3.91 3597 28.31 219
kinda cruddy numbers... i even baby'd the last tank, got oil change, also mix of engine brake/neutral coasting... we shall see, gonna just drive this tank depending on my mood.. i have yet to make the fuel light come on, since the majority of my driving is highway, i really dont feel like being on the local news.. "man runs out of gas and ties traffic up for MILES!!" not gonna be me!

As I noted in one of the posts above, I drove my wife's Hyundai Accent to 45.2MPG. But I also noted that some feather foot Yaris drivers drove their cars to 48MPG. Now I see another Yaris driver drove thru Yellowstone Park & got 60+MPG! Even tho I might someday get better than the Accent's 45.2MPG, I can't ever see getting Accent 60MPG.

QUOTE(PastorK @ Aug 9 2008, 10:23 AM) I've averaged around 30mpg with about 75% highway (with a couple of lights on the way) and the rest in the city. Mine is auto, and I try to keep the RPM's under 2500. BUT, on the last tank, i put 12.4 gallons in my tank (I thought the stock tank was 11.9. I thought I was driving pretty easy, but I only got 26 mpg. I generally take off pretty slow to try to improve the milage, but I think in doing so, I'm using more fuel because it is taking so long to get up into cruising speed (Overdrive). Any suggestions? Should I let it run up to 3000 rpm before it shifts? The tank is 12.9 I think .As far as shift points ,with my auto I usually let it shift between 2800-3600 rpm.My lowest tanks are around 30,my best around 36.

I everyone and I just came upon this forum. I purchased my Accent about 2 months ago because of my long work commute (140 miles per day) and have about 3300 miles on it so far. Most of my time is spent on the Interstate for my trip. I don't drive aggresively and try to stay at 60-65 on the hiway when I can. I also do the "slip in neutral" trick to coast when I can or if I have to sit at a light in the city where I work. I have been tracking my milage on each fill and have seen a low side of about 33mpg (if I drove a little to hard or it was windy) and twice at 40+. The best I saw as 44.5mpg and I remember having a tail wind that day. But my list of mpg's is averaging out to 37mpg which I feel is quite well considering it is an automatic. I am looking forward to exploring the rest of this forum!
