Is that US or Imperial gallons? Either way that's pretty darn good. :)

ok, great! we now know what the distance of an entire tank of gas would coat if we all lived in a small town. how ever, im going to guess here and say that about 75% of the population doesnt live in the country. there for that mpg teat doesnt apply to them. thats what i ment. if it was freeway/city that would be a better figure. but it does let me know how far i can get on a tank of gas when i go to BC this year

A, On fill up mark down the cars total odometer reading

B, On next fill up mark down cars total odometer reading and how many litres it took to fill

Now subtract b from a.
Divide the answer by amount of fuel to fill in b.
Thats your mpg...

You need to convert kms to miles first here and litres to gallons

This formula is only considered accurate if you keep track of milage total and gas total over the course of a minimum of 10 tanks.
I have tried this single tank method and read anything fom 26.5 to 37.55 ,even when you think you are filling up as completely as possible. :)

I`m kinda doing that now with the trip meter, i just thought Hyundia had a differant formula ...

I normally just fill untill the trip stops the gas pump, I do try and use the same pump every time, to keep my efforts constant.

When I drove to Las Vegas the other week, the first 95 miles I had a very strong head wind and averaged about 19MPG. After getting out onto the open road out of the hills after the wind died, I was about 25MPG. Then again, that's with no exhaust, and a bad O2 sensor. As soon as I get that fixed I will update.

ok ... here my latest readings ...

484 km, 34.06 liters = 14.21km per liter, or 7l/100km, or 33mpg (US), or 40.35mpg ( Imperial )

New US testing says our accent is supposed to get @ 31mpg (US) so i shouldnt complain too much.

Here is what i did. ( wishing i had a manual now, not an automatic )

Looking ahead, if the lights change to red, moved the transmission to neutral.
If the zone speed changes, moved the transmission to neutral, untill just below the new zone speed.
On really big hills, moved the transmission to neutral and coast down.
Accellerate at a moderate level, ( keeping revs under 2500 )

Tried keeping the kph to just below the listed speed, rather than 10 above.

I guess if you really try hard enough, its possible to get close to the US listed MPG, i suspect h*ll will freeze over before i get closer to the canadain sticker pmg rating.

Anything above 32 is considered good.
Hunny's 43 on a stick is EXCELLENT.
I seem to get better milage and more consistant readings when allowing it to shift around 3200-3600 rpm.I average 33.5-34 .If I let it shift below that it seems the little bit of lugging the engine hurts milage more than the extra throttle.
Either way it's beats the heck out of previous 15 mpg in my old truck.LOL

I just got back from a trip to st. augustine florida from charleston. I got 36.5mpg on the way there going between 75-80. On the way back i slowed it down a touch and got 41mpg going between 65-75. I have never gotten below 35mpg on the highway. The best i have ever gotten was 42 on a tank all highway.
The very most accurate way to figure your gas mileage is: First, Go to the gas station and fill her up until the first click when the pump stops. Second, Reset your trip odo right before you start your car. After youve been driving a while or on a trip when you need to fill up, or when you feel like filling up(doesnt really matter how much fuel youve used), Go back to gas station and fill up again to the first stopping click. Look at the pump and get gallons that you put back into it. Get the miles from your trip odo and divide the amount of gallons used into the miles. This will give you a very accurate mileage reading.
