Son of.... suck! :P My wife and I come back out to the car after having lunch and I see something very wrong with my door molding on the front passenger side door. Got closer, and OUCH! Some douchebag slammed their door into mine hard enough to severely DENT the plastic bodyside molding! Pretty sure it happened today or last night. Thank god the car has those moldings there, with as hard as they must have hit it, I don't want to think about how bad the outcome could have been had I owned a 3-door or a different car that doesn't have the moldings. *sigh* Nobody has respect for anyone else's property, everybody only thinks about themselves don't they? :( Except me, I don't beat up other people's stuff since I know what it feels like. I have a few questions: [1] What's the cost of replacing this molding? I checked an online parts catalog I found, but they do not have the moldings listed. [2] Does Hyundai have this molding available prepainted, just give them the paint code? Or do they only come unpainted and I have to fork over cash to a body shop to paint it? [3] How does it come off? Clips, tape, or both? How does one take this thing off? Since most of you don't have a 4-door, thus you do not have these moldings, I suppose I can not expect anybody to be able to give me any answers. :P

I hate people that just care about themselves. I have one of those too in my passenger door, not that bid though. contact these guys http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com/ send them an email they will tell you the cost of it painted. They should have it, and they can paint it. You just give them your VIN number and they already know what paint is yours. It is removable and you could try it yourself. Check out this http://www.hmaservice.com/viewer/content.a...Enone%5Eshop%24If you can not see the page just reply me and Ill post images.

Cool, thanks Rondy, the image worked great... Saves me from looking it up, I haven't gotten around to doing that yet. lol! Lots of little clippies holding that rascal on... I will have to order all new ones while I'm at it since I know I'll end up breaking the orignal ones. lol!
I was thinking about hyundaiaccessorystore, since I know you've asked them about painted mirrors before. The only thing that I'm concerned about with ordering it from them is shipping, the piece should be light but it's quite long. I just checked a local dealer's site and they have a special on parts orders, 10% off orders under $100,maybe that would be worth looking into also. :)
I'll get my baby fixed up one way or another.

Yeah, msvg I know what you mean. I park at the very back of the lot at work, nobody else ever parks there. One day last week suddenly this dude started parking next to me, so the next day I moved to a different spot and he parked next to me again. Arrgh! :P It's funny, there at work at the back of the lot there's all these expensive cars - RX8, a Hummer, a Corvette, Saab, BMW 3 series, and then there's my Hyundai.
I usually do try to park far away from people, but I can't really do it with the parking situation at home. I usually try to park next to my wife's car or my neighbor's Metro since that thing's so tiny. At the gym today, parking was kinda tight so in hindsight I think it may have happened there. Next time we're parking out in the boonies!
It just irks me that I've gone almost a full 2 years and 38,xxx miles without a single ding and then this has to happen. Oh well, my baby had a nice blemish free run while it lasted.

QUOTE(Torbo1 @ May 3 2008, 11:11 PM) nasty hit dude, personally i would be more upset than you, seeing how i have no moulding for protection...
I can totally understand... I'd be ticked too - plastic is easy enough to take care of, but man when they hit the metal, arrgh! People have commented to me on how weird the moldings look being so high up on this car - they're like 1/4 of the way down from the top whereas most other cars have them 1/4 way up from the bottom. But I see they're quite functional being up so high, had they been down low I'd have to be calling the dent removal dude on Monday instead of replacing a cheap piece of plastic. I'm sorry to hear about your mom's Elantra, that really sucks! They look so clean without the trim stuck all down the side but that comes at a price when you're sharing parking lots with inconsiderate morons. :(

QUOTE(Torbo1 @ May 4 2008, 07:07 AM) im actually concidering ordering the moulding for the 3dr... i think every one of my cars (this is my fifth set of wheels) has had moulding to some degree.. a friend of mine works for Clopay garage doors and they have this double sided tape from 3M that is so sticky it would darn near take the paint off if you tried to remove it... "" kept my tire valve tool that i used during my service writer days at Sears and if anyone messed with mine, they would have a flat tire plus no way of putting air in the thing!!! "" funny thing to do that, sit somewhere in the parking lot where you can see that car, and watch the people try and put it back in!! hilarious!!! ""...or i also have a Husky screwdriver...take that to the paint...but thats if i'm really mad, but i'm usually not violent lol ""
a key from a brand new car has a nice edge on it + enough force= takes it down to bare metal..........
I took my parents to http://www.montgolfieres.com/fr/index.asp a few years ago, came back out to the van and found both sides of the van keyed down to the metal. Only thing i can figure is Ontario plates, in Quebec ...
