QUOTE(boostedfc3s @ May 1 2008, 11:24 AM) I just took out that nice looking leather piece and went key to fob with just one key ring, shortens the dangling by about an inch or so, haven't really noticed any noise since I did that.
I did the same, but still made more noise than I liked. Not as much of a problem with the 08.

What is the difference in the 08 vs. the 07?

I kinda did the opposite of this. The standard arrangement is 4 parts: fob, leather strap, chrome keyring and key. I added a second chrome keyring between the key and the first keyring. Now when the key is in the ignition switch, the fob hangs lower than normally and , for the roads I typically drive, the fob rarely bangs against the dash or the steering column. It's not perfect, but it sure is less agravating than it use to be.

QUOTE(joezera @ May 1 2008, 07:54 AM) My wife and I live in the country with gravel roads. Also our farm to market roads are rough and have lots of uneven surfaces due to the expansion/contraction factor of the clay soil in our area. As a result the key fob on our Azera whacks the dash board and the steering column as we drive along. I found some felt pads at Home Depot which are 4 X 6 inches and about 3/16 inches thick with an adhesive backing. The ones I picked were tan in color and so not too far from the beige color of the interior of our car. I cut pieces to fit around the dashboard where the key fits. I also put one piece on the right side of the steering column cover. This helped a great deal - almost completely eliminated the noise. However, the adhesive does not seem to want to stay attached to the dashboard area. So now I am looking at using some double sticky foam tape to attach the pieces.
Has anyone else faced this problem and how did you solve it?

I understand your problem and posted a thread sometime back how I personally solved it, at least to my satisfaction. Since you are a newbie, I will give you a break regarding searching this forum. In the future, do a search on your subject and you may find that it has already been covered. Now..............on to the more important stuff. I also live in the boonies and have found that both my 07 Santa Fe and 07 Azera key remotes would wack the dashboard to the point that it almost drove my wife and I crazy. (Not a very long trip for me).....but I digress. Among my many hobbies is leather working. I made extra long fobs for both the Santa Fe and Azera. It workes very well for the Santa Fe but not so for the Azera. The remote on the Azera would still hit the dash. As you can see by the enclosed pictures, the Santa Fe leather fob is quite long and works very well but I had to make the Azera key and remote one single unit in order for it to work. Obviously the dash in the Santa Fe is much different than the dash in the Azera. It took a while and a lot of patience must be used so as to not damage the chip in the Azera key but the resulting product is very succcessful. We have been using this mod for a few months and are quite pleased. The dash in the Veracruz and the dash in the Azera are almost identical. Herein lies the problem. The Veracruz offers a proximity key and the Azera does not. That means that there is no key remote to hit the dash on the Veracruz but not so on the Azera. There is an aftermarket key available for the Azera that is quite expensive and it is also difficult to find someone to laser cut the key. I don't have this in my budget to purchase it at this time but may in the future. This product requres a little more research. Here is the link. http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/pro...products_id=605David <>

QUOTE(westex39 @ May 1 2008, 12:13 PM) What is the difference in the 08 vs. the 07? It's configured differently. It's not as noisy as our 07 was. (IMG: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y133/4CEE/Azzie08Ignition.jpg)

"at least to my satisfaction" Smartest phrase in the whole statement. David – lighten up. I have a great respect for those who served our country, but keep in mind this is a civilian environment. If you don’t like the thread, just simply move on. This is a good thread to share opinions on the issue including yours. Your solution to the issue is rather functional. You might consider using a nylon lock nut. I would prefer a cleaner end product without spending $140. I also need to avoid lengthened fobs, need to carry less in my pockets. Not more. Regards, Don

Here's yet another thought: Separate the key from the fob, leave the fob in your pocket, maybe attached to a ring with the house keys or add a clip and clip the fob by itself to a belt loop where you can easily work the buttons, let the key go nekkid...

:offtopic: Don, I'm not sure what your intent or inference is regarding your post. I was not aware of my saying anything in my post that would offend anyone. Perhaps you can reply, being a little more specific. Statements such as "lighten up", "If you don’t like the thread" and "this is a civilian environment" would be a very good place to start. They really make no sense to me as far as referencing my post. Or is the real problem the symbol after my name? Thanks very much, David <><

I will probably just separate my key from the fob. I carry my house keys separately anyhow. Just have to label which key goes to which Azera. But it seems like few folks here, if anyone, keeps all their house / work / misc. keys attached to the Azera keys. So if you already have another key ring on you, why not just shuffle the fob over to that one?
Makes sense to me... seems like the best fix available...
