I have a 99 accent 1.5L with drum brakes. My rear brakes seized after a week of sitting still. I realized that the drivers side drum was black and it seemed that it has never been used. I bought the car about a year ago. I replaced the brakes and realized that the piston was seized on the same side, replaced it and went to bleed the brakes......nothing came out on that side. I checked the brake line farther up the car..(broke it in the process) and installed a new one. The old line had no restriction in flow. I have heard that if there is a problem with the brake line on one side that there is some sort of mechanical plug that will cover that side (cant remember the name of it) of the brake line, thus closing off the fluid to that brake. Any one know where this is in the line or how to release it? Is it the Proportioning Valve that is the cause? How do I change the valve to reopen? Or do you need to replace it?

Thanks,

Jason

Honestly, this sounds like a problem you should deal with with a proper mechanic. Brakes are pretty important safety tools, and I think a forum isn't your best place for answers.

Good for you! Execllent work!

Contrary to what the last person posted here, this is exactly what forums are here to do. It is best to get many opinions if you are not sure about what you are doing with Brakes or any other critical system but if you have some knowledge a little advice from the many will help you to solve your problem. I'm not knocking the last poster here just a little nudge in the right direction...
