Hi,

Has anyone managed to get good prices on car insurance in Oz for the i30?

I am 32, clean driving history, male, rating 1.

Most places quoting over $1100 for comprehensive, though found lower price with GIO as long as $1500 excess included. That is for the CRDi SLX model.

Pretty pricey!

Cheers,

Benjamin.

Ben
Ouch!

I got a quote from Shannons for $703 (I thought this was high!)
Then I called CGU and I got them down to $379 (I do get a extra discount from CGU)
Where do you live to cause the premium to be so high?

I live in outer North West Melb and garage the car every night..

In UK car insurance is very competive compared to OZ.

I pay about 50% of what you are quoted (assuming $2 = £1GBP)

That includes 3 drivers - 1 26year old, 2 mature i.e over 26++, fully comprehensive, loan car when mine in for repair following accident, business use, excess of £100 for each driver, full no claims discount and I have gauranteed (in case of claim especially if third party have no insurance) so my discount % will never reduce.

We seem to be getting good deals pity about the petrol/desiel prices
unleaded £1.08 per litre desiel £1.17 per litre

Ben,

I'm also 32 with the same driving history and vehicle. I'm paying just over $800 through budget direct so may be worth giving them a go if you can't do better. That also includes my wife (who is under 30) as a second driver and non-garaged parking.

Dazz who are you getting 3-400 through? Definitely will be worth a quote.

Peter

Ben forget Budget Direct. Just took out a quote with CGU and came to $519. Just swapping things over as we speak.

Bdennis I owe you one!!!

Hi FGD,

I'm thru Allianz.. they seem to be very selective who they take on and which vehicles they insure (don't like too many mods for example) but they are a big company and appear more competetive on Motor Vehicles than my previous company (AAMI)

Yeah, $300 p.a. paid monthly (approx $25 p/m) with one free windscreen and an excess of $250 (i think) is pretty good considering she isn't garaged (just in our driveway!

Cheers,

Dazz

I payed $620 then the babe said "if you crack a window and need a new one, exess is $550, if you pay $60 extra, no excess so i payed $680, i payed cash for the car and agreed value $24,000 ) got a 65% discount this is NRMA i also got my Ute insured with them agreed value $25,000 that cost $780. could have shopped around but in the past if you have a bang and not at fault they don't charge you excess and they get the show rolling quick you get your car back quick. they are not all like that and some tell you were you must take the car to get it repaired.
just my 5 cents worth ( no one or two cent coins in AU :) )

Some good points there Lakes.

I know that our car insurance (2 cars) have the windscreen cover without excess as well. Also we have a no fault if an animal jumps (runs) out in front of the car. We need that as it sometimes happens out here where we live. Alread had to brake hard to avoid a big kanga.

Our insurances are with Allianz:
Getz + i30 = $57.20 a month ($686.40pa). By the way, the i30 is slightly less than the i30

B :) b

Edit and correction to the above:

Oops! ....the i30 is slightly less than the Getz
