hi, i have a 2000 accent 1.5L 5speed, and i want more power! i was thinking about a turbo, but it seems that if i want a decient turbo setup its going to cost me alot.

does anyone have any suggestions that would give me a little bit more acceleration, and overal power? how much would a turbo setup cost in my case, and what all would i need?

thanks.

as an indication, a complete bolt on turbo kit that used to be sold in australia by a co called PSC was around $5k which, atm is about US$5k. that didnt include labour or exhaust or tuning. it was apparently good for at least 100kW at the wheels. you could def save a lot on that by sourcing used parts and doing the work urself too.

Dear samuel,

I have been helping Roger Holdorf in Norway with his 1.6 liter Alpha engine, which is what comes in a Norwegian Tiburon. So he wants more from his Tiburon.

Several things you can do for cheaper than a turbo in priority:

1) Port & polish the intake manifold
2) Headers
3) Crower cam regrind to 270 degrees duration
4) Raise the compression with a thin copper gasket
5) Cylinder head work-port polish the intake ports, polish the exhaust, multi-angle valve seat grind, back cut/deshroud the valves
6) Change to an Elantra 2.0 liter throttle body
7) Change to Elantra 2.0 liter fuel injectors
8) Add an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and set to 50 psi.
9) Reprogram your ECU

Then, you can think about NOx.

Byron
