As I stated, take it with a grain of salt - they could very well be full of it. With that said, the GM at our Hyundai dealer said that for the initial roll out of the sedan each dealership will get ONE. He didn't say what model, color, etc., he just said ONE per dealership.

If I hear any more about the truthfulness of this I'll post back. This would really suck as I'm sure it would start a bidding war of some sort.

My dealer, in Knoxville, says he will use his "one" as a mule for test drives for prospective buyers once it arrives. I didn't ask if they'd let it go for the "right price."

When the first Veracruz arrived at my local dealer, they slapped on a $5,000 "Marketing Adjustment" dealer sticker. Better I think to convey "Dealer Demo, not for sale at this time".

My sales manager said the same thing. We will be getting one Genesis sedan this summer and one coupe in 2009. He told us he's going to hide it in his garage and then auction it off to the highest bidder :).

"he just said ONE per dealership"

If Hyundai thinks this is a marketing plan that will result in pent-up Genesis demand in the US, the suits in Korea are making another blunder. As Hyundai, (and their US dealer network partners) proved with Azera, the launch of Genesis will prove to be another train wreck.

Only time will tell. But yeah, if they're all just getting one with others arriving six months later I may just pay a visit to the local Volkswagen dealer for a G37.

Wow, what did I say ? DUH. For some reason I was thinking of the G37 and the LS400. I guess I decided to come up with my own model. :innocent:

Now my original post is fixed.

Hyundai is making better cars and entering the realm of luxury, but they don't appear to have a clue how to emulate "red carpet" dealerships. Hence they have problems moving the more expensive car. Although I saw that they showed an increase in sales of Azera in March.

Dealers have done an allocation on the cars already. We were able to pick two of any exterior/interior/package of the 3.8V6 model. We were also able to preference as many "extras" as we wanted incase any dealerships missed or forgot to order any. We should see the first few in late June according to HMA. The V8 model will not be available for at least another month later.

Hey wait a minute... late June is just about 6 weeks away now, woohoO!

Too bad about the extra month for the 4.6 though. It sounds like they're still wrestling with some motor production issues, rather than vehicle assembly. It's late in the game to be at that point with the new motor. I still think I'm going to wait for Tau version 1.1 to come out...

If this is true. And they are only receiving one at the dealership to try and build up demand. I am getting home from a deployment next month (Army) and I am going to buy a Beemer or Caddy, not wait for the Genesis. This is how Hyundai is going to lose sales to established lux brands. My wife and I own a 06 Tiburon and a 07 Santa Fe. My wife squirrled away deployment money, alot. With a kid on the way I need four doors.

Oh I didn't mention, at the time of these posts I have only 26 days until I land back in the states. Today is 08 May 08 so that means June. I am getting awfully antsy. And the ironic thing is, I am in Korea and have seen the Genesis on the roads here.

csmith4105 -

Thanks for serving our country. I appreciate all you do for us.

Now, since you're in Korea, when you come back to the states, could you bring back about 8 or 10 Genesises (sp) with you? Mix up the colors, but I'd like a white one. In the meantime, I'll round up a bunch of other forum members and we'll take them off you hands as soon as you get back.

Yeah if you can bring back one with a wood dash I'll take it in just about any color - even a 3.8.

First I want to say thank you for the kind words z.

I wonder if the wood dash trim would be available through the parts department here.... I'll have to ask my Korean coworkers and check it out. Who would be interested? Maybe I could get a few trim kits and place them on ebay advertiseing OEM.

***EDIT*** How many is the question. Like I said I'll look into it to see if it's possible first. Once I find out I'll post again here and hopefully I'll be asking for numbers.
