Hello.

My Veracruz is two weeks old.

It came equipped with the roof side rails and the crossbars. Both Thule and Yakima tell me that I need to purchase their crossbars to install a cargo box. Is this true? Is there a cargo box that I can install directly to the factory installed crossbars??

Hello, I used my Yakima SkyBox 16 several times this winter. Several sets of skis, boots, etc. and it attached directly to the Veracruz. I sought guidance on weight limitations, but the dealership said that based on the specs for the SkyBox, it would be just fine. The 16 does run a bit long. It pushes on the antenna in the back, but the XM still works fine eventhough its partially covered. A shorter box would probably be perfect. But to answer your question, the box attaches without a problem to the factory rails.
