????????? Lifted rear seat, removed cover and fuel filter is not visible nor could I feel it under the seat with my hand? Diagram shows filter should be visible but it is no where to be found.... I have a new one and by the size of it I shouldn't miss it. There is only so much thats exposed under the cover and the fuel filter is surely not there.......HELPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

I'm officially making this an X-File case.

I guess everyone's fuel filter is in plain view when they lift the access cover. Is it possible that the factory forgot to put one on?

Thanks...wil take a look in a little bit but it is confusing that the online service manual shows a diagram depicting it to be on the outside??

Thx, 273HYPO

removed fuel pump still no sign of the fuel filter. Are saying the fuel pump also has the fuel filter self contained in it? If so, why is the fuel filter available separately because it would never fit inside the fuel pump. And the online hyundai service manual shows a diagram of the fuel filter on the mounted on the outside????? I am completely baffled.

Okay Hyundai Service diagram shows that the plastic clipped fuel line is suppose to run straight out from the top of the fuel pump to the fuel filter...BUT my fuel line goes straight 2" then does a 180* and back towards the vapor line and disappears out of sight. Build date on my Accent is 6/03 if that means anything. UGHHH

My accent is getting up in miles and I wanted to go through all the replaceables and see what I could do to extend it's life.

When I got to the fuel filter what I discovered is that Hyundai apparently changed the fuel filter setup at some point during the production of the 2G accents. Maybe it's related to the plant they came from, who knows.

In any case some of them are behind the seat and some of them are in the fuel tank. If it's not behind the seat then I would assume it's in the fuel tank. Some say the in-the-fuel-tank filters are not meant to be serviced; I don't know. At this point I have done nothing with mine.

Welcome to the forum and thx for the insight...I'm suprised some the resident experts haven't chimed in. I can't be the only one with this issue. I work on my own cars frequently so I' know what a fuel filter looks. I need at least another 40,000 miles out of my Accent before I can affrd a new Accent.
