Hi all,

Was giving the interior a vacuum yesterday, and noticed that the floor hooks which keep the front mats in place, were quite loose and not really secured into anything. Upon twisting they tightened into the carpet itself, however I would have though they would have somehoiw screwed into the body of the car itself.

Can someone please confirm if this is the case?

Hi FGD,

The anchors must come with the genuine mats (as I'm using generics and there are no anchors in my car which is the same as yours)

..Not much help I know.

Cheers,

Dazz

The anchors screw into the carpet with a tapered selftapping style thread. We have them in our i30 and our Getz. Yes, they come with the genuine OEM mats, but only on the drivers side in our Hyundai vehicles.

Thanks for the replies guys....I'm glad I asked as I would have probably gone home and spent 30 minutes on my knees trying to locates the holes for the screws in the floor of the car!!

As an aside, not overly impressed with the quality of the matts. Only had them about 3 months and a whole heap of wear already visible. Can't see them lasting too long.

funkigreendog,

That's kind of interesting. I thought the mats we have are fairly good quality. The bak of the carpet is better than most I have come across as well. The type of backing and the tight fit of the carpet mats in the floor pan mean they don't move around the floor like some mats do.

Ours are nearly two months old and we have done 7000k to date. Perhaps there are different qualities around. I shall take a photo of one of each of the front and the back and post them on here asap so others can see what they are like.

Without the mats, I can see that the carpet would not stand up to the dirt and would wear quickly.
