Hey Guys!

I am new to your forum so please be gentle with me!

I have just competed a minor service on my 96 Excel 1.5 EFI 5spd and now the car is running rough. I've changed the engine oil and filter, changed air filter, cleaned and re-gapped the spark plugs.

I had an issue with the plug leads in that they were stuck kinda firm and I needed to use long nosed pliers to help pry them off. I did damage one rubber boot on one lead and pulled out a lead from it’s crimp connection that fits onto the spark plug on another. I re-crimped the connector then checked the impedance of all four leads and they are the all the same.

My problem is the car runs rough from standstill til about 2500rpm (I am guessing as I don’t have a tacho). Idles smoothly but runs rough.

I am a competent ‘home mechanic’ but this problem has stumped me!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers…..Aussie Boy

was it only after the service that it started running rough, if not try your fuel filter, otherwise how old are the plugs they may have hairline cracks in them, if they are fine i'd try a new set of leads, anyway good luck
