Hi all...

Looking for some tips for a novice. I am mechanically inclined but don't have tons of experience with cars - computers & bicycles, mainly. I can see that the bolts have snapped on the rear sway bars of my 1999 Accent, and have ordered parts... is this as straightforward a fix as it looks? Anything that I should be aware of?

Also, I have to replace the front passenger side splash shield... again, a simple repair?

One last thing... I seem to be lacking an underside splash shield for the right side on the engine.... is there an official part name for this so I can hunt for on at the local auto wreckers?

Any and all responses welcomed.

TIA

Ed

I had a similar situation, and ended up replacing sway bar link on the right and left front of my accent. Not too bad job. Make sure to use penerating oil on the good side if you are planning to replace it as well. The link kit is cheap too. I had to remove the whole sway bar as I was replacing the steering rack due to seal leak.

Have fun.

Hi Newbi,

The only thing I could add to your comments here would be that I had the same issue and used a saws all to remove mine. Worked nicely.

I went to NAPA for mine as it is close and they offer the two styles, one is a rubber replacement and the other is Polyurethane, the poly is preferable as they won't break down over time as rubber will. You will also notice zero difference in ride quality with the plastic bushings, the stabilizer will also be able to do its job slightly better.
