Has anyone here asked for additional parts for their i30 (SX or SLX) like spoiler, body kit, etc? Just wondering how much it would cost through a dealer, or whether you'd just wait and get it done somewhere else? And I know some people scored extras like free mats for their i30, how did you manage that? Do you just ask them to make you a deal? I'm looking into getting an i30 petrol SX soon just wondering how I could get extras?

This is the reason why I didnt option up my vehicle, alot of the mechanical work I can do myself. I cant justify paying $1,000s for things I can simply add by taking some of my own time to fit.
Because its OE equipment, doesnt mean its great either, waiting to see what the aftermarket can produce for these cars, bodykits, performance mods, wheels, reversing cameras, etc
But for those who choose to get the extras, I can understand why.

I love adding these kind of extras on, they can make a really big difference to the overall look of the car.
I have ordered the SX CRDi, with the bodykit add-on. I was quoted $1800 however we (my family and I) used this as a negotiation point as we were purchasing two cars at the same time so they threw it in for free.
From my understanding it seems easy enough to get between $1200 - $1800 off a new car, whether it is in the form of actual cost or extras such as tint, spoiler, mats etc. Would you agree Turbo??
In terms of buying from the dealer vs buying somewhere else, I think it depends on what the item is. With the bodykit I'd prefer to get it from the dealer as the only other places I'm aware that offer them are overseas. This way if there is problem with it I can take it straight back. Also included on warranty. Same thing goes for the spoiler, whilst I've seen it online for $300 delivered, it is available through spare parts for $350. I am willing to pay this extra price for the assurance that if something goes wrong i'll be able to get it fixed. I remember another user (was it dave?) has his spoiler begin to come off, so I'd definately rather pay the extra $50 for this.
In saying all this, I'd probably still buy a bodykit from elsewhere if it was cool enough :)
By the way: what is the price of the mats if one wanted to purchase them separately?? I was quoted $70 for the set of 3 (2 front, 1 back) from Matcraft (www.matcraft.com - though the product is no longer listed there for some reason).

Anything is achievable Jess, it just boils down to how much you want to negotiate, afterall you are the buyer :whistling: Mats I got for free ( spares from the Excel ), tinting Ive been quoted aound $350, bodykit Ill wait and see what they come up with, headlights maybe swap globes over to give them that white/blue eurocar look $60, maybe retrofit the fog lights and switch $??, modify the steering wheel for genuine audio and cruise control $??, rear parking cam $300, maybe, maybe, maybe.

Hi Bd Have seen this feature in Hyundai brochures before... See Terracan Brochure (PDF) attached. Being universal reakon it would be the same as this... Hope this helps... Dazz Looks a bit skimpy probably better off getting an upholsterer to make you a full width one...

Hi BD,
I have the universal boot lip protector in my i30, and it is just as Dazz describes it.
It's true that it is not full width but it still works quite well and looks neat. I also have the cargo liner and to some extent this interferes with the way the boot lip protector is meant to sit when not in use...however it still works fine, just can't read the Hyundai logo on the boot lip protector when it is folded back into the boot space.
I feel the cargo liner is probably the more useful of the two accessories. The boot lip protector is a good idea but in practice it is not always convenient to pull it out over the boot lip, especially if you already have an armful of stuff you are putting into the boot.
Don't have any pics of it yet but will try to get some on here in the next few days.

QUOTE(dazzling_darryl @ Apr 28 2008, 01:26 AM) Hey Jess,
Just be a little careful with the cheaper deals. Do a bit of discreet asking around. Some do a lot better job than others. I was happy to pay my guy $320 because he had done a really good job on my previous Getz and Pulsar.
As a comparison got Dealer fitted tint as part of the deal on Tiida (supposedly worth $495) and not as good job - a few small air pockets around high mount stop light and not as dark either although assured it was darkest legal tint...
He took the side windows out and dried the glue with heaters. Kept the car all day because it was his 1st i30 and wanted to take his time.
Was very impressed by the quality when he took the door trims off. Quote" very solid and well made - boy have the Koreans come a long way".
Also said the Koreans do things a lot differently to the Japanese but didn't elaborate. (wasn't a derogatory comment though)
Cheers,
Dazz
I like a Korean bar b que, better than a jap? what do they call those jap restaurants that they cook on the table? we i have been to a few here and one in USA, and i went to a Korean Bar b que restaurant i liked it better :amen: John

Just did a bit of modifying my car (virtual) got the idea from the civic SI and also the new i-blue (see separate posting)... Colour coded grille (not sure if I like it or not) :P Guess the silver i30's are kind of colour coded already. Rgds, Dazz
