I bought one for my wifer. She have an 2007 Elantra SE (Canadian model). You must break the head of the original key in 2 to get the security chip and install it inside the new folding key. It works without any problem since day 1 (8 months ago). She likes it very much as it is more easy to manipulate and start the motor.

Hmm... is it hard to do, I don't think my 07 GLS has a security chip, maybe it would be easier to make then... I kind of want one but I don't want to pay the 150 bucks... Is it worth it?

Realized US Elantra's don't have chips, so I ordered one off e-bay... they showed up about a week ago for like 20 bucks, we'll see if it's the same or at least very similar. It looks like the exact same one, I'm excited I'll post how it comes out, should have it next week, we'll see!

got my flip key today, the chip was EASY to install and works awesome and the key is awesome too, except the guy cutting the key didn't do a great job so it's kinda hard to get it into the keyhole sometimes... but all in all I'm happy especially because it's the EXACT same one as in the link above except I got it from e-bay for a fifth of the price. I highly suggest it to anyone looking at it, pretty pointless but it does offer another spare key and it looks classy, haha
