Probably just spammers creating accounts. Even if they did manage to somehow compromise the database and hack all the accounts, big whoop, change your passwords on any other site you're using the same username on. Nobody has a virus thats for sure.

Phew! I was worried there for a second  . I'm a simpleton when it comes to computers and if I did get a virus I would probably crap my pants. I recently switched to MAC after many years of wrestling (and losing) with PC in hopes that I would be immune to this kind of schitt and wouldn't have to deal with anti virus software and phone support and such anymore.

Script kiddies, with no life worth speaking of. Best to ignore until all posts deleted. Having said that, the "report" button doesn't seem to work.

I noticed that the report feature is broken too when I tried to use it earlier this afternoon when all this garbage started...

Hopefully the powers that be get all of the boards cleaned up, it certainly would be nice to have our site back.

Yeah the report function seems to be broken. Ah well, hopefully our Great Moderators, Oh Great Moderators, will have their attention drawn to it by other means soon enough.

As one who does web applications for a living, I can tell you, NO, you cannot get a virus just by reading an HTML page. If you download something & execute it, or open an attachment in an email message, THEN you can get a virus.

This is just some kid who somehow derives meaning from, and defines him (or her) self by his (or her) seemingly nonpareil ability to press "Ctrl+C" and "Ctrl+V" 50 times. We are indeed beholden of him, and rightly so; that's a hard trick to pull off, hard to get JUST right.

The higher powers are working on the "Report this post" feature - SQL problem.

Yes, there are indeed viruses and known security flaws for Macs. No where near as rampant as Windows viruses and exploits though. I guess it depends on which Mac OS you're running as to how vulnerable you may be. Luckily, Vista is really closing this gap on the Windows side.

As Andyman said, you're not likely to get a virus, malware, spyware, etc., by just viewing a website. They can propagated using ActiveX (Explorer) but that is really uncommon.

Hopefully those knuckle heads are gone for good - I think all of their posts have been dealt with.
