Hi everybody,
I will be moving back to Italy after 6 years in the US and I'd really like to bring my 2007 Tucson V6 Limited 4WD with me. Does anybody know if Hyundai cars which are produced for the US market are compatible with european standards (safety, emissions, specs...)?
Thanks in advance,
Alice

well, it would probably be bigger than most cars on the roads there.. would also probably expensive to bring it over there... also, are the roads the opposite way over there, or is it just in England?

Topesia :00000732:

Hi of course you can drive your V6 in Europe, the only thing your vehicle will probably have to do is a local Test of some kind, in order that you can do a personal import and put it on Italian plates- the only problem is the cost of European fuel as it is more expensive than US fuel but thats Europe for you.

Tucs in Europe are the same as tucs in the US apart from the fact that many of us drive diesel 4 cyl Tucs and 4cyl Petrol Tucs but the 2.7 litre version is also catered for here and in the whole of the EEC. The Tucson has been made to comply with strict US emissions and that will in all probability be exactly the same as in Europe and Italy.
You could always contact the Italian Customs to ask what is required of you , in fact you can probably find out what you need to know online. The best part for you is you have bought a Tucson for less money than it would probably have cost you in Europe. :auto:

You don't have to sell your ride just bring it home- don't you take any notice of ddix1026 he is kidding himself we have more 4x4's in the UK than you can shake a fist at, every country in Europe has heard of the 4x4 and they use them. A 4x4 is not a USA exclusive vehicle.

By the way ddix Countries that drive on the left include
1. Anguilla
2. Antigua and Barbuda
3. Australia
4. Bahamas
5. Bangladesh

Hi Topesia
I had a chance to look at a site re importing cars into Italy and got the following information.

Importing a vehicle, new or old
An EU national may import a vehicle without paying duty provided it is more than six months old and has done more than 6,000 km. A non-EU national, to import a car duty-free, must show that s/he has owned it for more than one year. For all questions related to the import and re-registration of vehicles, contact the Personnel Service (personnel.service@iue.it).

Note that for the re-registration of vehicles in Italy, including scooters and motorbikes over 50cc, the fees (for the transfer of log book, notary and agency costs) amount to approximately 450 Euro for a second-hand car.

If I were you I would write to personnel.service@iue.it in your native tongue and ask them for all requirements. That way you will get it right first time.

Cheers

I just wanted to give you guys an update about my situation...
Unfortunately it seems that my 2007 Tucson V6 Limited 4WD if registered in Europe would be considered a Euro 0 because of a very high CO emission level.
So, I'm giving up.

Buy one of the European Tucsons then and guess what you can now get a 4cyl diesel that will perform much as the us tuc but give a better fuel consumption- failing that have a look at the i30 diesel this can return 60 mpg

cheers
