Hey all. I have a 2005 1.6l Getz. It's done 80,000kms and I've taken it to warranty a good 4 times now (in the space of a year).
Had it taken in today when a tire fitter noticed a split CV boot when replacing my tires. As you are aware, a split cv boot can completely stuff a cars CV when it fills up with dirt etc, or all the grease escapes.
Hyundai motors said that they don't cover split boots because something may of hit it. I had a good look at it and there was no impact marks anywhere, and the wheel strut thingy covers it very well from the ground, so I HIGHLY doubt something had hit it. Anyone know how else they could fail? Surely there is room for material defects when boots/seals etc are produced? Not happy.. AND they want to charge $300+AUD to have it replaced - when the local kmart tyre and auto will do it for $90.
It may not seem worth whinging over, but I am an unemployed uni student :P
They are also replacing my imoboliser module AGAIN. It keeps failing and causing the car not to start until I lock and unlock the car again, or set off the alarm. What would keep causing the immoboliser modules to fail do you think? - the last one failed 6 months after it was replaced.
anyway enough of my rant..
thanks guys!

I had the immobiliser replaced last week (For the second time).. and this week the problem has come back.. so I've had to take it back again (for the 3rd time in relation to the immobiliser)....
Could it be something else causing the car to crank, but not turn over - randomly? I don't like the idea of going through a new immobiliser everytime it happens...

I sympathise with u mate. Read MY whinge about being ripped off for fixing what is obviously a factory fault. Make waves. Write to Korea if you have to... Makes you think of Ali Baba and the 40 workshops. Regards Larry. PS The pen is mightier than the sword

Thanks man. good idea lol!
The last time I took the car in they called me and were about to void all my warranty because it took them 6 warranty jobs to realise I don't keep track of my service history. GRR
I argued to say that an immobiliser has nothing to do with a 10,000km oil and filter change, though they said that when you get the car serviced with THEM they run a scanner on the engine each time - and apparently it could have prevented the immobiliser from going bung.. Anyway they were nice and didn't void my warranty on the condition that I keep records from now on.
They still didn't fix the immobiliser problem. They said the POD filter and detachable GPS system mucks around with the 'Amps' therefore starving the immobiliser of current... ER.. I personally don't see what a pod filter does to it all HAHA, and the immobiliser still did it a LONG time before I purchased the GPS system.
They are tools really... Correct me if they are right in saying a POD filter stuffs around with the Amps....lol
I've given up and decided to just put up with it/and or fix it myself. N00bs.
Peace!

So.. now only one key turns the car on! Which is annoying because the car is shared, therefore we need two keys to operate the car!
The key will remotely open the car, and once put in the ignition and turned to "ON", the immobiliser on the dash flashes 5 times (indicating a fault in the manual.. duh)... continuing to press on to "start", the car just cranks...but doesn't start...
This is the problem that I have had for a while 'randomly'.... but now 100% of the time, the key does not start the car. Only our other spare key will (90% of the time).
I've replaced the battery in the keys.
Does anyone think it could be a faulty key(s), and NOT the immobiliser that Hyundai keep on replacing, time after time? They have not looked at the keys... I'm not too sure how the electronic key interacts with the immobiliser when in the ignition though..
Any idea's people?
Thanks!
