I just purchased a 2008 Elantra SE and so far everything is great, except for one minor issue.

When I turn on the car, about 1/3 of the time, none of the buttons on the stereo will respond. I can turn the volume up or down, but nothing else will work. I can't change the mode (XM, CD, FM, etc), change the station\track, get info about the track playing, etc. I have tried this with and without a CD in the stereo, starting the car with the stereo set to FM, or XM, or CD...and the results are the same. Randomly, no buttons will work.

So far the solution is that if I turn the power to the stereo off and turn it back on, it works. Has anyone else experienced this? Obviously this is an easy fix and a minor problem, but I still think I'm going to take it in for a replacement stereo. I searched the forums and haven't found any reports like this, but wanted to check before I called the dealership.

Thanks in advance!

Since you just purchased the vehicle take it in to the dealer for a replacement  Take advantage of that awesome warranty.

I've had similar issues, the buttons respond but the music from a CD won't play as if it was on pause, until I turn it off and on a couple times.

I tried a cd for the first time and it played fine, then turned off the car with it playing. Got back in and started the car but no cd sound. The tracks would change and volume did adjust up or down but still no sound. Tried pushing all the radio buttons but nothing worked. Finally, I turned off the radio all together and turned it back on and then the cd sound worked. Not sure why It did this???? So, yeah, it seems I too am having radio issues in my 08 Elantra SE. If it keeps up, back to the dealer we go for a fix!
