Hi,
It seems there are quite a few Sonata drivers who have installed Eibach or H&R springs. Have you guys run into any issues with the Hyundai Factory warranty on your car after you them installed? I drive an Azera and bought a set of H&R springs, however my Hyundai dealer tells me it would void the warranty on the drive train.
Any experiences?
Thanks

Thanks This will NOT void your warranty on your powertrain just your suspension. Dont let them give you that bull! Go to a diffrent dealer!

QUOTE(il06gt @ Jun 9 2008, 09:54 PM) I seriously doubt they are going to cover any suspension components if you have aftermarket springs...right or wrong...they will be hands off. It really wouldn't be worth it, but you could swap them back out...but it would be easier to just go it on your own. Sure would not hurt to call another dealer and just ask the service guy. If they say no problem...drop what you are doing and drive it over while he is still there. My fear exactly. What really sucks for me is that there are no aftermarket struts for our car yet. Not that I'm aware of anyway. If there were any, I definitely wouldn't mind having those installed out of pocket. But let's pretend for example that I do end up taking it to the dealer, they successfully prove the Eibachs caused it and I end up paying for everything. They're still going to end up installing the same parts they took out. Now it's just a matter of time before they fail too. Of course, this does not completely eliminate the possibility that they were defective to begin with. I used to say that the front was noisy anyway so that may have eventually led to where I am now, even if the Eibachs were not installed. It's a longshot but I thought I'd say it anyway. -N-

QUOTE(AeQuiTaS @ Jun 10 2008, 01:49 PM) OR.....OR!!!...... if you kept the old equipment, you can take it to your favorite shop and have them change em out before you head back to the dealer wanting it covered by warranty! I've done this on a few different parts in the past. They see original parts and dont usually question anything :) Just a thought! Dave- Changing springs is expensive enough to make this a moot point. $200 to reinstall the stock springs, go get it repaired, then another $200 to install the lowering springs again.... I don't recall the invoice value for the shock I had replaced but it was way under $100. I doubt labor to replace shocks is any more than it is for installing springs so you may end up spending exactly the same cost to snooker the dealer.

Dave- Dave, I actually still have the OEM springs with me (you'll never know when you'll need them again!) but as dogstar pointed out, it's going to be an awful waste of money to swap them back in just for warranty purposes. It's going to be cheaper for me to just pay for parts and labor at the dealer rather than spend $240 for each swap job. I already let my service guy know what my problem is and although he agreed that the Eibachs should not ruin the shocks, ultimately it's not his call - it's the Hyundai rep's. I'll be calling him again tomorrow to find out what day the rep's going to be there so they can look my car over. Wish me luck. -N-

Just a thought! He used a weekend to change stuff out and then dropped the car off at the shop. lots of drinkin and cussin involved to stay within the warranty... heh  Dave-

I know the probability of this working may be low, but what about the OEM V6 struts or better yet, the 2009 “sport” struts? I believe they are firmer and should fit. The 2009 “sport” struts could be ideal.
