So I just came from my Stealership and I am not very happy.
After being told that all accents are wired for Keyless Entry/Power Locks
and that all that was needed were the actuators and programed key fob.
The shop tells me that you can not install Keyless Entry/Power Locks in a
Accent that does not already have them from the factory. Unless you replace
everything inside the door, and the door panel!!!

Apparently to save money Hyundai Accent's don't have lock rods in the door, but
a wire system. So you can not hook an actuator to the lock. At least not to
the base GS. I was told it is not cost affective to put Keyless Entry/Power Lock
in my car.

The only reason I did not buy one with the power package, was to put the Keyless
Entry/Power Locks in aftermarket to save money. I was told I could.

Has anyone installed aftermarket Keyless Entry/Power Locks into your car???
Has anyone had there door panels off to look inside the door?

What I need to do is find out if anyone knows anything about the inside of the
door. I have never heard of a cord locking system. I thought they were all
a rod system. I really don't want to take the door off myself, as I'm sure I will scratch
it up as easy as they mark. I hoping someone here has had theirs taken apart,
or has put in aftermarket keyless themselves.

I'm not sure about the junk yard. I can get the actuators here.
Actuators
but unless I know what the deal is with the cord vs rod they will do me no good.
I assume the 07 actuator would work?

That is a great idea, but I don't think we can even get him to go to pull
off parts for us. LOL

I just askled at my dealership too.
If the car did have power locks cost is $295 to add keyless.
If it didn't the cost is $490.
Only cars with power locks from the factory are so wired .Look where the doo closes you will notice no rubber cable bundle between the door and fenders.A harness HAS to be installed. :(
I am not sure about the cable locking mechanism, though several cars come with them.

The price I was quoted to add keyless was much higher then $490.
I was told the wiring harness's alone are $200 for each door. Then there
are the actuators for each door, and labor on top of that.

I would give up on any sort of OEM retrofit. Too much stuff to change out. Besides the stuff inside the door, you won't have anywhere to mount the OEM switch on your door panel. (the armrest portion of the door panel extends much further on those with the power package.) If you get the door panel meant for those with the power package, then you'll not be able to spin your window crank due to the afformentioned extension on the door panel armrest.

Perhaps check with a reputable, experienced local shop that does alarm installs. I'm sure they've done something like this before.

......Or just go do the financially irresponsible thing and track down one that has the desired options and trade. :P

choose any directed electronics alarm(hornet, viper, etc) then add part # 524n times 2...door lock actuators should be less than $20 bucks each; add part # 524cl times 2...cable lock conversion; should be less than $15 bucks each--find someone to install and you should be good to go. Find a shop that uses Meyer Distributing and you will have access to these parts or look up directed eletronics, call them, and ask for a dealer in your area

We haven't replaced any actuators on new Accents yet. I looked at Hyundai's online parts catalog and can't really tell from the parts diagram. It looks like rods to me, but I can't be sure. I will do some checking when I get to work tomorrow for you. If all else fails I will just order a driver's actuator and latch assembly to see for myself.

I will let you know what I find out.

I know for a fact it is a cable system. I had it at the dealer, and they
took the door off to put in keyless entry and did not realize till they
took the panel off is was cable. I was taken aback that the guys at
the dealership did not know there own car had cable, not rod.

I ordered a Directed 524CL Cable Lock Bracket Kit. I'll gander at the
directions and bring it to my guy and see what he says. If it will
work to connect rod actuators to the cable system then I will
have it done. I'll keep you posted.
