I recently had body work done to my '06 Accent and since then I have been hearing a loud zap noise under the hood by the belt while the engine was running when warmed up. I took it back to the bodyshop where we noticed while looking under the hood little bolts of electricity jumping from the crankshaft pully to the bottom frame. The eletric archs speed up when you open the throttle up more. The grounding strap is connected properly and the car still runs fine. The car was impacted on the front passanger side breaking the radiator hose, and power stearing resivour. the radiator was resting against the exaust manafold and alternator. I am going to try sanding down the area around where the grounding strap attaches to the cars body to make sure when the car was fixed they didnt some how paint over that but it doesnt seem like that part was ever painted. Another note, when accelerating while turning there is a slight rattling noise coming from the front passanger area of the car that I can not figure out. The body shop told me to take it to the dealer and see if it just happens to be a freak occurance to have this problem right after the car was repaired. All the mechanics where confused on the cause to the problem. Frame was not damaged at all and is still perfectly straight and the suspension was not damaged at all either. All four cylinders seem to be running smoothly and all the electronics still work fine. The lights do not dim at all when the engine is arching to the frame. After the impact the plastic shield over the engine was slightly moved back but since its just plastic I feel that cannot indicate anything. I am worried that the engine might be out of placement. Any ideas?
