Hi
I have an 01 grandeur xg , and When i drive over bumps or rough roads ive noticed a sound like somethings loose in the boot/trunk.
So i thought it was the spare tyre/jack that was loose, so i tightened them all and it still makes the sound.

I shake the car up and down when its stationery no noise, only when driving.
Could it be the shock absorbers or suspension, has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks.

could well be the top suspension mounting (that's the mounting on the top of the shock absorber)

Hi Montego, I have the same problem. A knocking noise coming from the boot on the offside suspension area. When you say it could be the top suspension mounting, do you mean it's only a matter of tightening it or is it more likely to be worn bushings? Thanks.

you will have to replace the top bush on the suspesion strut, l had to do it on one of my cars. the bush is cheap and if you are mechanically minded and have a decent set of tools you should be able to do it yourself

Hi all, The knocking noise that was coming from my rear suspension has now been repaired. It turned out to be the anti-roll bar bushings. Part Number 55577 39600. (BUSH-RR STABILIZER). I replaced both sides. See link to diagram below. Apparently the new bushing height has been increased from 35.7 to 37.7mm . The new revised bushing has a yellow dot on the side to identify it. This is a very easy repair.
