:00000732:

Hi everyone, Im just a new member who is fed up with paying high prices at the pump for petrol powered cars, hence my 1st foray into diesel cars, although I have driven a diesel Mercedes previously for work and that impressed me to no end with its economy.

Im in the market for a CRDi, Im just wondering if all of you who have bought one would post what level of spec SX/SLX, transmission, features and your drive away no more to pay price to help us newbies from getting ripped off by supposed waiting lists.

Cheers

I cant wait till the tuning software for these cars are available, Im very interested to see how much torque and power you can squeeze out of these motors whilst improving on the fuel economy as well.

Even though I didn't get a diesel, I paid 29000 drive away for my i30 auto SR. Pretty good me thinks! Hyundai is loathe to discount on the i30 at the moment whilst demand is so high...

Hi buddyforu, I didn't have a trade, just bought it outright, I sold my camry to a family member and I got quite a good price for it, then put extra $ for I30. Yes it looks cool, your Avatar :).By the way, how many km reading in your cluster when she's filled up buddyforu, mine is just around 470-485. I've been trying to put my i30 pix but couldn't, anyone pls show me how. Thanks

Yeah about the same, usually about 480km distance to empty. Seems a bit pessimistic me thinks. Having said that on my third tank of fuel (ALL from driving around the city, A/C always on, some lead foot driving) I used 10.7L/100km. Still well North of the 7.6L/100km combined cycle. I'm guessing though that out on the highway I'd get pretty close to that. My best tank around town so far has been 9.3L/100km.

You can add an image from you C drive by using the 'Add this Attachment' feature when you reply to a post (it will be down the bottom of the page). When it appears on here, it will have the Hyundai-forms.com watermark imprinted on it.

Thanks buddyforu. Tried that but still couldn't, I think it's because my photo size exceed the forum limit or something. Last week I made a 2hrs trip to the countryside at speed 80-110 km/hr and I saw it down to 7.2l/100 pretty good hey. Like you I mainly drive in town and aircon is on most of the time, like yours my avarage around town is around 9.2.to 9.7. Mine has done 3500 km on the clock, hopefully a few more thousand and the consumption will be less :)

Mine's done *just* over 1300km so far since January. Yeah the consumption should go down as time goes on. Mine is going down to Mackay in early May, then down to Airlie Beach in mid-May. Will be interesting to see what she does!

I paid roughly ~23k for my diesel SX, protectz pack, with window tint and generic floor mats.

Apparently arriving 8th may, can't wait!

Forgot to bargain for a free tank of fuel :(

Can't believe how expensive diesel has gone up to...crazy

Well, just for completeness sake, over here in the UK I paid just under £16,000 (GBP) for a 1.6 CRDI Premium manual.

In your money that's around $34,000 AUD

Nice motor too. Ordered it in metallic Mica black (+£300) with SupaGard protection pack (+£275). Came with leather heated seats, automatic wiper sensors, folding heated oversize mirrors, reverse parking sensors, auto dipping rear view mirror, athermic windscreen, climate control, 17" Fondmetal Tech-5 alloys.

Then again, we always get overcharged for cars here in Blightly land.

HI CHB,

Most dealerships throw in a full tank of fuel when you buy a new car - so hopefully you will be lucky.

Ive had around 13 brand new cars over 30 years and its only been the last two (bought from the same dealer this year) that scored half a tank and three quarters of a tank - new money saving policy apparently!

Cheers,

Dazz

Hi Shambles

Some interesting observations...we only pay A$300 for our metallic paint $300 pounds does sound like a rip off!

On the positive side you do get lots of extra goodies for the $5000 "premium" over what we pay for our top of the line diesel which is only in SLX trim. we don't get

leather heated seats, automatic wiper sensors, folding mirrors, reverse parking sensors, auto dipping rear view mirror, athermic windscreen ( Just looked that up on Google - has metallic UV reducing layer for those like me who hadn't heard of it b4) or 17" Fondmetal Tech-5 alloys."

So that probably justifies the difference.

Sounds like a nice car!

Rgds,

Dazz

Mine is exactly the same combo as yours WFC, same price also (or very close) but as we were buying 2 cars at the same time we were able to negotiate a bit further and got them to throw in a bodykit as well. Not sure if this helps at all..

Cheers

Hi all,

I came across the following link for a CRDi SX that sounds like drive away for the list price. If genuine, seems like pretty good value. :57: If not drive away, then sounds like misleading advertising. Anyone down in Victoria in the market for one might like to check it out.

That's really weird..

It's got the inside of an SLX or SR: The seats seem to be leather like you get in the SR or the different woven pattern available in the SLX. In the SX there's no silver trim at all (inc the steering wheel); everything is black. Also there are no controls on the wheel.. and the car exterior has body coded colour door handles which only come with the higher models.

It could just be that they've just chucked this picture in there because they had nothing else? LOL

Also, I've always wondered what FD stands for? I thought for some reason this was only associated with petrol cars, not diesels?

thanx

I think you hit the nail on the head Jessi3 with the 'just chucking the picture in' bit. Also I saw an auto gear shift in one picture, but the car is supposed to be manual.

FD means five door?

Another thing I came across today while googling all things i30 (I am just as crazy as some of the others in this forum) is that an i30 with less than 1000k is on eBay.
That is one way to find out the realistic value of a vehicle.

PS: When you get your car are you going to change your name to Jessi30? :P
