I guessing that your clutch is fully disengaging when you are on it. but is it fully engaging when closed? your brakes will only affect the vehicle if they are pumped, unless you have something binding (improper install or otherwise) even so it would be constant. do a test, take your car out and find a stretch, a good CLEAR mile and begin. 1.cycle engine, start by bringing to 2500 RPM and let off SLOWLY, inline fours do not appreciate the sudden drop in fuel when theyre going fast. start off in first, run in first gear to about 500-600 RPM above the shift light, then shift into second, take the car to full throttle until 4500 rolls up and listen for anything out of ordinary, third do the same, full throttle and onto fourth-fifth and then begin downshifting, use engine braking for the first 3 gears then slide to neutral and brake to a stop. shut off the car and simply step outside, smell for clutch, smell for brake, and write down where and what gear the trans jumped.
-if all else fails, check your engine mounts, maybe the bushing has rotted.
