My 05 Tib has a knocking sound in the front end. I only hear it at slow speeds and only over small bumps or waves in the pavement. I checked sway bar tie bars and mounts and they are in sound and tight condition. It sounds high in the suspension as if it were near the struts. I was told the strut mounts may be a place to look, as they may wear prematurely. Has anyone had a similar situation?

I had the exact same problem. I just had to open up the hood, and look at the top of the suspension struts where they connect to the frame. Once I took the cap off the top of the part of the frame where the front suspensions come up, I pushed down on the car a few times to work the suspension and I could see that the main nut in the center was loose; the frame would bob up and down a couple centimeters on the strut. NOT good. I tightened it down really well and hasn't been a problem since. Mine however is an 03.

No haven't been able to figure it out yet. I need to check the strut mounts. If you come up with something, let me know and I'll do the same.

I had the same problem. Solved it by taking off the rubber cap at the top of the strut mount. the strut rod in the center was loose about 1 turn on one side and only 1/2 turn on the other side. Now quite like new. Mine is a 03.

thses cars have a problem with the upper nuts coming loose on the strut. check that and if not loose upper strut mounts. i do these all the time at work. only downside is they are not cheap to do. and while you're in there might as well do the struts if you have over 60k or so.
