First, removing the cat is illegal.

Most of the time, the CEL you are getting is from the gas cap. Are you making sure that it clicks at least 3 times when you replace it after filling the tank? If not, start doing that first. If you are clicking it 3 times and still getting the code, I would replace the cap.

removing the cat is legal if the year of the vehicle makes it legal i have checked into it and on an 02 depending on the emissions rate the cat can be removed and a resonator can be installed. also im not stupid the 1st thing i checked was the gas cap i even tried a new one and still getting the problem thanks for the somewhat help but next time try making your posts not sound like ur trying to talk to a ****. thanks

Talk about rude! I offer a suggestion and you insult me? Sorry that I didn't read your mind and know you tried a new gas cap. You said nothing about replacing it in your original post/question.

If you are such the expert, why are you still having a problem?

Sorry for trying to help.
