Hi All,

On rare occasions i have found that my central locking will not work, i have tried my spare key and the same problem happens. Due to this i will have to unlock the car manually. When you unlock the door manually should the passenger door unlock, because mine is staying locked? Also when you go to start the car the horn beeps and the lights flash for a couple seconds. After you start the car, the central locking goes back to normal, for a few weeks.

It hasnt become a real issue because 90% of the time it has been ok.

I am going to get my dealer to look at it very soon. Has anyone else have this problem?

If you're unlocking the door manually with the key on the driver's side, the first turn only unlocks the driver's door. Turn it back to the center and back to the unlock position again and the other doors will unlock. Locking - just turn it once and all doors will lock at the same time. The passenger's side works the same for locking, but when unlocking it only takes one turn to unlock all doors.

When your car isn't responding to the central locking via keyfob, do you see the red LED on the keyfob flash as you hit the button? Sounds like it should be receiving the signal but doesn't know what to do with it. The flashing/honking you get when starting the car is definitely odd and shouldn't be happening.

My first guess is that your BCM (body control module) is flaky and may need to be replaced. It handles all of the door locking and alarm functions among many other things.

I checked that the red light on the key lights up when i tried to unlock the car. It does light up, and i have tried 2 keys and the same problem happens? BTW I just realised that it happens on hot days, any temperature above 35 celcius causes the problem to occur?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery, waiting about 2 minutes then reconnecting to see if this resets anything. I'd try this first. If that doesn't work then I'd let the Hyundai guys check it. Def something to do with you electrics. Not sure if you have an alarm ?

Good Luck

I had somehting like this happen one day last summer, i went to unlock my car after work and it didnt unlock, so i kept pressing is and then the alarm went off.. i pressed the alarm button and it stopped, then i unlocked it again and the doors unlocked.. when i went to start the car, it didnt start but the alarm went off.. so i shut the door and pressed the alarm button it stopped.. called the dealership, they said bring it in, and you might know when i went to do it again, everything was fine, so i drove to the dealer and they reset some stuff, re programmed my fob and now i'm all good.

I had this happen to me today.... It totally creeps me out!!!

I went to get lunch on my break, the remote was unresponsive and i had to unlock the door mannualy. I didn't think of it as anything since it was warm, but when i went to start my car the alarm went off. I turned off the car and the alarm stopped. Tried the remote again, still unresponsive but the light was flashing on the remote telling me the battery was fine.

SOOOO second time on starting the car made the alarm go off a second time. Being at work and hungry i am **** and call the dealership. I told the service manager what happened, and he told me someone either hit my car to trip the alarm, tried to break into one of the doors, or used what he called an 'easy remote'.. No damage or attempt of forced entry.. Nothing inside the car was even out of place!

He says the 'easy remote' is what thieves use now to break into cars/garage door. it like a skeleton key for electronic doors/locks, and synchronizes the signal with another cars, disarming alarm or for some cars that have the feature pops open the trunk revealing the loot of mall goodies. he said to unlock, then lock all of the doors and the system will reset in 30 minutes. The alarm going off is a safety feature to keep the car in a mode to think it is being stolen, so the thief can't just drive away with it, without the alarm blaring down the street.

During this time i called security and after they reviewed the parking lot cameras, someone was in my car but he just walked up and opened my driver side door like i didn't even lock it!!! Sad stop for them because i have no after market stereo, or fancy audio equipment. They did take 45 cents out of the ash tray, and didn't leave a single fingerprint.

I don't even keep my CD's in the car since i use them while at work. I never had access to view the video, but Police are using it to try and find the guy. I asked if this happened a lot recently and no one would answer me with a yes or no, they just said not really.

Other then that you would never of known someone was in my car and it is a very vulnerable feeling!!! This could be a explanation as to why this is happening to others though.

Holy crap, Kat. Ya'know, my wife was thinking that someone may have had a remote that confused my car since this has happened twice to me now. I go out to the car and hit the buttons on the remote(s) and nothing happens. I have to unlock the door manually with the key and the the power door locks aren't being activated with the key no matter how many times you turn it. It's just like the car shuts down and refuses to unlock electronically. I didn't have the alarm go off when starting the car either time, however.

I was wondering if it was heat related since it was baking hot the days it quit working. But now I see it could very well be someone trying to break in with a device but I question whether the thugs live in my neighborhood would have the technology, they seeem to be of the type to prefer brute force tactics. :460: I read the papers though, and people steal all kinds of crap out of this apt. complex all the time so who knows. Good reason to never put an aftermarket stereo in.

Soemtime over the next couple of days I plan on yanking the alarm horn connection under the hood and setting it off intentionally. I've done that before to test silently what sets off the alarm. This time, Ill let it time out and then try to start the car and see if it behaves like it did those two times it messed up. Then I'll know someone was effin' with my car.. Still not sure why I couldn't hear that alarm from the apartment though! Maybe a fricken train horn for the alarm is in order.

Anywho, thank you so much for finding that out - although I'm really sorry that you had to find it out that way, kat. :crying:

Kat that is so scary! good you didnt have anything that that thief could have taken easily.

So he have some kind of key?? Nothing happened to the door handle on the passenger side?

I hope nobody tries to open my car to steal something because there is a gun that shoots you death (just like in the saw movies) when you try to open it and the alarm goes off. ok j/k.

They dont have that kind of technology over here (I hope), they would use brutal force.

Ive been trying, in a few occasions, to catch someone trying to do something suspicious to my car because it is impossible to tell if there is someone inside the car and Ive been there for more than half an hour and there was a guy walking down the street and knocked on the door but thats it.

no the dealership just told me someone just drives by hitting this remote puncher, and when they see/hear a response out of a car (our lights flashing) they walk up and just try to open the door. they went in through the driver side door. if they would of tried to open the passenger side the alarm would of gone off, and same with the trunk. although i dont understand why the driver side door wouldnt trigger the alarm like my other doors. :puzzled:

oOkatOo seems you are under a dark cloud lately!!! RUN!!! Glad there was no damage. So does this mean they can come back and rummage through your car again? Just wondering does their device have the capacity to remember remote codes? Like hooiser said they would know where the cars were parked (Apt, business, home)

This is going to become a bigger and bigger problem with our criminal justice system slapping people on the wrist and our economy in the gutter. People are trying to get gas money and are coming up with some creative ways to get it. Anyone familiar with martial law?

OMG... Kat... that exact thing happened to me this past Sunday...

I parked the car about 7 pm Saturday night, and about 3 pm Sunday went out to my car to go somewhere. When I hit the unlock button on the transmitter, nothing happened. I hit it again, still nothing. I tried the lock button. Nothing. Thinking my transmitter was dead, I unlocked the car with the key. No alarm. Got in it, it started right up, but the alarm went off. I shut the car off and the alarm stopped. I tried to start it again, but this time it would not start and the alarm went off again. Irritated by this point, I went back up to my apt. to get my spare key and transmitter. I hit the unlock button on the spare transmitter and the alarm went off and the car started just fine after that.

I just figured that the remote needed to be reprogrammed. So I went about my business and when I got back home, I tried the original transmitter and discovered that now it was working just fine. I haven't had the problem since then, and just figured that it was some electronic glitch.

But reading your post sent chills up my arms... I just bought this car a month ago, and although I don't really keep anything of value in it, I still don't want STRANGERS in my car. I can't see where I park my car from my apartment, and we don't have security cameras. Nothing is missing out of my car, but still... I'm really creeped out now...

In the cases where it wasn't obvious that anybody had been messing around with the car like what happened to mine, is it possible the BCM is just getting garbage received from other transmitters and it's making it shut down? I read the whole section in the svc. manual about the alarm yesterday but I didn't see anywhere that it states it shuts down the keyless entry receiver and doesn't allow the remotes to function. Either is a bug or an undocumented feature.

Maybe I need to make a tin foil hat for my BCM to shield it from harmful rays. :P If someone is messing with it - too bad I can't disable the keyless receiver, aside from pulling the power connector out of the fuse box. And if you do that you lose the alarm among many other things. If people can easily circumvent the keyless entry security protocols and gain access to the car, I'd rather just use the key and say forget about the keyless.

Yeah, you can get an aftermarket alarm and just use your keys to enter the car.

in my old car someone tore out my after market stereo on memorial day a few years ago in the same parking lot. I keep telling the officers that my car was broken into before but they brushed it off.
