I don't understand why Hyundai would have the options of "lock when put in drive or reverse" OR "lock at speed".

What really makes sense is to have both features active at the same time. In other words "lock or unlock when put in reverse, drive or park AND lock at speed". We take our granddaughters to school and pick them up in the afternoons. We unlock the doors as we go through the pick-up line and the doors stay unlocked even after we get them in the car and speed up after getting onto the street at normal speeds. I have to remember to re-lock the doors after they get in.

Our old Mercury Marquis would lock when placed in gear and/or if speed went above a certain level. IMHO that is the safest way to design the product.

My dealer programmed mine and I changed my mind, so he did the lock and limp home codes again - free.
I prefer to have it not unlock at all. That way only the passengers unlock the doors if they choose, when they choose. This is the way my Camry was programmed.
I like the lock at speed as this prvents it locking if I move it a few feet to clean it and then have to unlock the doors again.
If you wish to have vent only and operate the fan. Turn the auto off, turn the AC on and then off. You can now operate the fan and mode controls without the AC coming on.
I have found that I have great air flow with the sunroof tilted or the back windows slightly down and the car is still very quiet.
Enjoy your car! :beer:

Bob;

Thanks for your input on this. I am like you and want the car to remain unlocked at low speeds, such as the student car pick-up line and then lock at speed afterward. Lock at placement in drive or reverse is good too.

It appears that I should talk with my dealer's service manager about this and arrange for them to reprogram the system to work the way I want it. If they can't provide both lock when placed in drive and at speed then just the "at speed" feature would be sufficient.

I like the driver's door controls ability to prevent children in the back seat from constantly running the windows up and down and unlocking the doors before we come to a complete stop. The back doors incorporate the manual unlock defeat that is common to all cars now. Someone years ago had a really good idea on that feature.

Yes, we are indeed enjoying our new Azera. We wish the same for you. Happy Azera Motoring! :beer:

I have to agree. Our 07 was programed to lock when put in gear resulting in it locking inappropriately. The 08 is programmed to unlock at 18 mph.

When I picked up my 2009 Azera yesterday, the dealership, one of the largest in northern Illiinois, told me I was the first to ever request a change to programmable settings. They never could get the "unlock when key removed" feature to work correctly, although I was looking over the technician's shoulder and he appeared to be entering the information correctly. They have a different technician going to some training next week and he will hopefully find the answer to why the unlock feature could not be programmed.

Besides easy out driver door, easy out steering wheen, door auto lock, and door auto unlock, there are two other programmable features. One is the beep that occurs when the key fob locks the car (default setting is to be enabled) plus one other one I can't remember. (I'm just realizing that might have been the "limp home" feature - it wasn't obvious from the wording that it was the limp home feature.)
