QUOTE(NovaResource @ Apr 1 2008, 07:11 AM) I believe you need to go to the dealer for them to set any programmable features with a scan tool. Plus, I don't believe "mirror down on reverse" is available.
I agree. Our unit is currently at the dealer. Thought perhaps mirror down may be available for 2008. I'd like to know of any other programable settings that are available, but can't seem to find the old thread or any new ones. Someone had posted a thread back in late 06 referencing a pdf file identifying the optional settings.

QUOTE(NovaResource @ Apr 1 2008, 08:13 AM) Yeah, I'd like to see the list for my Tucson. I know for sure I want to change the remote unlock so it unlocks all the doors on just one press instead of just the drivers door on the first press and the other doors on the second press.
I used to have my Santa Fe unlock ALL doors with one press. I had that changed to just the driver's door with the first press and the other three with the second press. The reason I did this is because it increases our vulnerability if all doors unlock at once. Most of the time, when I drive my Santa Fe, my wife is with me so I have to press the button twice but when I am solo, I don't want all the doors unlocked when I get to the vehicle. Especially when I am somewhere busy such as a mall parking lot. I don't think I am being paranoid. There are many car hijackings and that's how thieves can gain access. Many years ago, I had someone jump into my car on the passenger side attempting to hijack me. I was able to get him out and ended up running over him. I really don't want to experience that again. Think twice about having all doors unlock with just one push of the button. David <><

Regarding locking and unlocking, I'm under the impression that you've got only one option, and that's for the car to lock automatically at 5 or 10 mph. It will not unlock automatically when putting it back into park. Nor, can it be programmed to unlock ALL doors with a single push of the unlock button. I'm learning to live with this.
Here's what you don't know. If you don't lock your car, anyone can open your trunk at any time. Car's unlocked, trunk's unlocked.
Also, if you remotely unlock your locked Azera, but don't open at least one of the doors within 30 seconds, it relocks itself.
You don't have reduced power DRL (Daytime Running Lights), BUT, you can turn your headlights on and not worry about leaving them on as they will go off when the key's removed. So, not all bad there.
The Azera's kinda quirky on features I've come to expect on any car I own. I had a bottom-of-the-line 1998 Grand Prix, and I could personally program my doors to lock and unlock in a variety of ways without having to take it to the dealer. It also had an oil life monitor that determined how long before oil changes depending on the kind of driving you did. It's 4-speed transmission on a 3.1L engine turned fewer rpm's at 70 mph that does the 5-speed transmission on the 3.8L Azera. If I left the directional signal on, it would sound an alarm after half a mile. Steering wheel needed only 1/4 turn to go around a curve that the Azera takes 1/2 a turn or more (not a big deal, but I did like that positive steering). And, be careful when you stomp on the gas to pass someone. It takes a moment or two to figure out what gear it wants, and when to really take off.
It is comfortable, though. And, it handles pretty well with the tire pressure jacked to 38-40 psi.

QUOTE(NovaResource @ Apr 1 2008, 11:02 AM) I have to press it twice all the time. I either have my whole family with me or I have my briefcase and lunch bag with me on the way to work and I have to have back doors unlocked so I can put them in the back seat. I'm not worried about carjacking. The media has blown that issue way out of proportion. The chances of being carjacked are slim. 1.3 per 10,000 people are carjacked per year since 2002. http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/abstract/c02.htm It is easy to feel immortal if it has never happened to you. In the mean time, you have the safest settings if you have to press the unlock button twice to unlock all doors. Of course, the choice is yours. That's the beauty of living in a free country. David <><

Yeah, a few years ago my brother-in-law had a guy jump in his car at a gas station in a pretty nice neighborhood outside D.C., point a gun at him and tell him to drive him all the way across the city. Took his wallet when he left and said "If you ever call the police, I know where you live..." I'm gonna have to go with the merits of 2-stage unlocking on this one! :gitara:

QUOTE(boostedfc3s @ Apr 1 2008, 08:53 PM) You're a little bit mistaken on your lock settings:
Choices for locking as per the TSB: Lock with put in reverse or drive Lock at speed
Unlocking: Unlock when car put in park Unlock when ignition key removed.
I have my locks programmed to lock when put in gear, and to unlock when car is turned off and key removed.
Ya know, I thought I had those options. The dealer I bought the car from steadfastly refused to do the programming without charging. So, I took it to another, closer dealer who did it for free. I specified locking when put into gear, and unlocking when placed back into park (just like I'd programmed my Grand Prix to do). When I got the car back, it was programmed to lock as 5 mph, and he said it couldn't be programmed to unlock. Dammit.

QUOTE(boostedfc3s @ Apr 2 2008, 09:33 AM) I'm not aware of any other programmable features, but I'd be willing to bet anything else would probably require it too. I just know those 4 options require it because I was in the car w/ the tech when I had them programmed.
Yep, the service manager who programed mine said that it could only be programed with the scan tool. Funny story although it was annoying at the time: When I made my appointment to have it programed they said that it would only take a "few" minutes to do it. But it turned out that the service manager hadn't programed any Hyundai before (said no one ever asked) and he had a little trouble figuring it out. He fiddled around with it for about an hour before he punched in a wrong number and somehow locked himself out of the system  . So he had to wait an hour before he could get back in. They loaned me a car and I went to lunch. All in all, it took 3 hours for something that should have been 30 minutes or less. :whistling: :offtopic: This wasn't the first screwup by this dealer's service dept. Needless to say, I don't go back to them. There are two other hyundai dealers nearby but they really aren't much better.
