I asked at one of those key cutting places located in most shopping centres. They could replicate most Hyundai keys up to about 2005 (I might be wrong - could have been earlier than that), but not the newer vehicles. Come back in a few years I was told.

Think i might have got mine from "Jaycar". Has four buttons so i can lock/unlock car
and also open the boot. Was very easy to use.

Have you ever seen the one's you can start the motor remotely? with those ones you don't need a key at all, just the remote controler.

about key's and key cutters , i lost the key to a new Toyota Hiace van those fridges on wheels :) don't come with a remote control only a key, well i lost the spare one and knowing Toyota would cost an arm and a leg for that normal looking key, the closest key cutter wanted $120, then a friend at work was in the CBD of Sydney and asked a key cutter there they said about $30, so i go there and they look at the key put it in a machine and come back tell me will cost $150 as it has to be oprogramed as well as cut. so only have one key for that. i hate those Vans!

No m8 it's fairdinkum! i know guys with them on Harleys just have to leave bike in neutral and hit the remote button they fire up and start, my friend has fun at pubs, as if a few people looking at hisustom bike and it fires up on its own :) my other m8 in canada has that on his car. it's an auto. a guy here in Sydney was fitting them, people with custom Choppers liked them as did not need keys or key fittings so could keep bike clean looking.

Hi M8,

What i was getting at is you can't start a late model Hyundai without depressing the clutch first!

Hence the big remote left foot...

Cheers,

Thank you for your further enquiry regarding your i30 key fob and spare key.

I have consulted Hyundai Technical regarding your dilemma and I have been advised that your local Hyundai Repairer can re-programme your vehicle's immobiliser system and this in turn will accept your spare key without triggering the alarm.

Therefore, I would like to suggest you contact the dealership you purchased your vehicle from and they will carry out this procedure for you.

Kind regards

Julie Clark
Hyundai Customer Service

Looks at least like something can be done about the spare "fobless" key.

Congrats crb, looks like you have done well on all counts. As others have said in another thread by Lakes, look forward to seeing some pics of it.

Just one word of warning - cars are REALLY much closer than they appear in the wing mirrors! I nearly stuffed up when I first got my i30 when using an overtaking lane to pass another car, and I was baulked by a slowish vehicle in the overtaking lane. Very nearly clipped the car behind when I moved back into the slow lane :crying: Visibility out the back by craning your neck is not as good as what I was used to. A lesson learned cheaply!

Lets know if you have any problems down the track with the dealer.

Regards

Lawrie
