Good stuff fellas  , I will keep pestering my dealer and see what happens. I might have a bit of extra leverage as I think I can send a buyer their way (which will be contingent on me getting a second remote).

Just rang my dealer and vented some much pent-up frustration. He's ringing Hy warranty at 9am to check what's what. I have a good feeling about this.

If not, they can have the car back.

Not.

Sorry m8, you know when you have to turn, and you put your blinker lights on to indicate you are turning? well you know how most new cars have the side light built into the side mirrors? well i think the lights the i30 have in the front gards look like pimples  but won't bother me, just think they could clean up the looks changing that.

I was expecting to be contacted 3 times.

1. From a message left on the UK Hy website
2. From a fax I sent Hy last night
3. From my dealer who is trying the warranty route

Just received an email from "1".

Thank you for your email regarding being supplied with only one key fob
with your recently purchased I30.

I can assure you that your comments have been noted, however when you
purchased your vehicle, Hyundai Motor (UK) Ltd's policy was to  only supply
one key fob and one key.  I am sorry for the inconvenience the provision of
one key fob has caused you, however as mentioned by your dealership you may
purchase a second key fob from their parts department.

Thank you for  taking the time to contact Hyundai Customer Services, and
please be assured of our best attention at all times.

Kind regards

Julie Clark

Shambles,

If us Aussies are successful in getting free 2nd remote keys, you will have some ammunition to use in furthering your attack.

Hope we are successful.

Well keep you informed.

Bob

Hey Guys (& Jess)

Just followed a link at the bottom of the page to another model forum and apparently can get programable remotes via Ebay for around $25 (havent investigated yet but might be worth a look when I've got time. (Gunna hit the sack shortly)

Would still need to use spare key to start the car but could leave that in the console or hidden in boot well...

Cheers,

Dazz

You can get generic programable remotes from your local electronic store
or key cutting place for under $30. They're easy to program, you just point them
at you existing remote and press the corresponding button on each remote.
The only downside is you don't get a funky foldable key.

Might get one as an extra back up... even if I get my free key on Thursday as promised...
