Hi,

I have 2005 Santa Fe. For third time now my air filter is soaked. The first time I recall going through puddle and then learned from dealer air intake in driver's side wheel well.

So we've been careful around puddles now which is sort of ridiculous living in Pacific NW but...

The car stalled again on me the other day, I popped open the air filter box, and sure enough there was wet bubbley (and clean?) water in air box and my air filter was soaked.

I feel like I bought a lemon! The last dealer I took it to was just local and not where I purchased it so I'm going back to where I bought to see if they can repair.

I've only found a few references to this problem online. Anyone else come across this? Any solutions??

Basically I like the car but cannot have something that may die at any time.

Thanks for any info.

Chris

What engine do you have? 2.7 or 3.5?

I know the 2.7 does not have the intake in the wheel well. It is at the top of the engine compartment on the right hand side. The intake runs from the air box in a U-shape down below and behind the headlight and then back up.

If you have a 2.7, I would look for a hole or tear in the bottom of the U bend in the intake hose. Good luck to you.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I am now having the same issue. I have a 2004 3.5...
