I've had my i30 since January 11 this year, and I have never used water to wash it yet!!

I decided to start using the 'Meguiar's Waterless System' which I bought from Super Cheap Auto for about $50. Its VERY easy to use, and the car comes up looking great without a scratch on it. Have a look here for what it is and how it works. I'll hold off using water as long as I can lol!

Inside I only use Meguiars 'Cloth and Trim Cleaner' with a micro fibre cloth to wipe the dash leather and trim down with, seems to keep it pretty clean so far. For the tyres I use Meguiars 'Hot Shine' tyre spray and for the windows Meguiars (again) 'NXT Glass Cleaner.

Oh and the car is ALWAYS under the house, under a car cover when she's resting (takes priority over my flatmates ute lol!).

I want to see how long I go before I have to give the car a 'real' wash with water...I'm loathe to do so thought as I KNOW I will scratch it...

Hi buddyforu,

I watched the video - looks good!

You don't work for them do you?

How many washes would you get for $50 and are the cloths washable?

LOL when I wrote that I was thinking 'they're gonna think I work for that company' but no, I don't. I did a LOT of research when I was waiting my i30, and the 'waterless wash' seemed like the best way to go.

You get one bottle of spray in the 'pack', (475ml) which should last about 4 or 5 washes. You can buy replacement spray for about $20ish. I'm pretty sure the cloths are washable, I'd only do it by hand though. They don't get all that dirty when the car is newish.

Hey Buddy, i could not see you being able to sit still and enjoy a nice Cappo while a guy or girl blasts your pride and joy with a high pressure water blaster then they move to the drying section, and for more ca$h they will do the inside. if you ask most people here in Sydney how to clean a car they will just tell you the best hand car wash they know :) :amen:
LOL
partly due to water restrictions.
I have a friend that got a Mazda 3, and he was in love with it like you are with your new baby. nothing but the best! then some low life stole his bee sting from the back of the roof, we was having a drink and all he wanted to talk about was his lost bee sting, then the local garbo's took a corner too fast and hit his baby while it was parked he was a broken man for a while.
with me mate, i wash em clean em, and drive em, but don't let em own me :57:
Cheers mate

Well, I've settled on a strict cleaning regime.

Bought a pressure washer but it doesn't clear the paintwork. Even with a detergent bottle that mixes with the water when switched to lower pressure, it just does not cut it.

So now, as I did last Sunday, I power wash all round having previously prepared a bucket of cold water with SupaGard anti-acid detergent.

Then I power wash half the car again, switch it off, then get to work with my bucket and sponge. Then power-spray all that lot off. Repeat for the other half of the car.

Bingo.

Beautiful metallic black i30, waiting to have my babies. Looks good when it gleams in the Manchester rain.

Well, John, there are outlets every few miles (note I don't use kilograms or kilometres or any of that daft decimal shit) that handwash your vehicle, but they charge a lottery win for the privilege. And they apparently leave nice swirl marks on the gloss.

I could do that myself. And do.

As for the rain, we're in mid-spring and global warming is obviously having an effect as you brothers down in Oz seem to be reaping the benefits of reduced heating bills, while we in the superior hemisphere seem to be paying for it.

Oh, and while I'm ranting, I've just been out to clear yet another half ton of "bird lime" from my roof. "Bird lime" eh? That's how my owners guide describes it. I call it "bird shit" which is what it is.

Hey Shambles .... how did you get away with the 4 letter word (special privileges?) Dave and I get censored regularly!

As for the bird lime it might be your colour as Night Sky (black) iron roofs are popular in Tassie and apparently get more than their fair share of the stuff... I on the other hand with my tasteful blue don't get any (bird lime... that is) :whistling:

Consider yourself lucky. It's a problem here with pigeons as the locals feed them by hand, and they get so friendly they even perch on the bloody cars, availing themselves of any available shitting positons they care to adopt.

My Brother developed a product some years ago called (don't laugh) "shag-off" which was successfully tested at the Sydney Opera House to alleviate the problem of bird poop on the cafe tables. It was mainly designed for people with expensive yachts to deter the birds.

He used some special 3M tape impregnated with fine wire mesh as I remember it and was fed a small pulsating current to stop them perching. Ended up selling it to some investor.

Might effect your aerodynamics Shambles and would need a long extension cord or a big battery! But might be worth looking into... :shades:

Dazz

P.S. Investor must have changed the name from "shag-off" i searched that on the net and got something else entirely :bigemo_harabe_net-01:

Hey Sham , it's always been the same ( weather ) here just if we get rain or it's dry we winge about it. :) if its cool enough to need more than a t shirt everyone say's its freezing. but down Tassie where Dazzler is it gets colder, i have flown down there a lot. sometimes its not too bad but it's always noticeably cooler than here, but humidity is lower too. it's the only place i've driven were the driver's drive slower than the posted speed limit :)
Cheers John
