We have a new 2007 Azera LTD with 3.8L V6. We live in North Texas in a rural setting. We typically drive about 25 miles to/from our usual shopping etc. We drive about 50-55 mph. on farm to market roads and 55-60 mph. on better state or US highways. We haven't made any long trips yet. So far our MPG seems to be consistent at 26.6 MPG. We are retired and do not do quick starts or stops. The tires are at 32 lbs. pressure. Most of the time we use the cruise control and let the automatic transmission do its own shifts. The car only has about 2400 miles on it so far.

I have checked MPG the old hand method and get the same answers as the on-board computer delivers within +/- 0.5 MPG.

Driving habits and speed do make a lot of difference. I used to do lots of fast starts etc. when I was younger. The Azera replaces a 2001 Mercury Marquis 4.7L V8 in which we were getting an average of 23 MPG. I had to have a new car that had at least equivalent creature comforts. We love this car so far! :)

Congrats on your new car Joe  !

You are getting fantastic gas mileage out of your car. I'm lucky to get 17.5mpg in light city driving. I wish I were as disciplined as you with my driving habits. I'm in the DFW mid-cities area where even "light" city driving takes its toll on mpg. Luckily, I only have 4.5 miles to drive to work.

Welcome Joe, another DFW area person who has found the Azera. We just hit the 5000 on mileage for our '07 and continue to enjoy it. Like Campoly said goes for us, the city driving definitely takes a toll on MPG.

Thanks to everyone for their welcome!

Our Azera is a light gold color. Our dealer was the Huffines dealership in McKinney, TX. I used to live in Garland and worked in Richardson, about a 4.5 mile commute. At that time I drove a Chrysler with a 440 or a Dodge 15-passenger window van, neither of which got good gas mileage. Of course gasoline was much cheaper back then.

We got a really good deal on the Azera and the dealer gave us the blue book value on the Marquis without seeing the car. Year model close-outs are always a good time to get reduced prices on new cars. We were lucky to find one the color we wanted. We live in the country on a gravel road, so dust is nearly always there. The gold color helps to hide the dust!

The window tint and the dual AC controls work nicely to keep us comfortable as we drive along. It seems that nearly always one of us is in the shade while the other is in the sun. The window tint has made a real difference on the sun heat factor.

We are watching the MPG and are curious to see how much improvement we can get after the car is broken in. My other vehicle is a Dodge 2500 quad cab with Cummins diesel. I am getting 19-22 MPG on it. At current diesel prices it does not get driven as much as it used to.

I understand about city driving and the poor mileage that goes with it. The worst is when you are stuck in traffic due to long traffic lights and fender benders. Sometimes the radio traffic reports can be of help, but often there is no viable alternate route.

Our LTD does not have the electric fold-in/out side mirrors. I see that they are available from Korea at decent prices and some have said they can be added to our cars. There are additional items such as LED lights for the interior and exterior that can be added to any of our Azeras, although some will have the "Grandeur" label on them.

Good luck to everyone with their Azera! :)

Window tint is a necessity here in Texas AFAIC. As far as the AC goes, I usually just set the temp and hit the auto button and forget about it....keeps us very comfortable.

I have the fold in/out side mirrors and I've really enjoyed this feature. Very useful when squeezing into the garage and at fast food and bank drive up windows and occasionally waving :bwekk: at other upscale cars........ which could be interpreted by them in several different ways I :innocent: suppose.

Good luck to you to Joe!
