With 8,500 miles on my 2007, I get up to 32 on the interstate at 65 MPH. Usually average around 18-24 routine and that is about 70% around a small town and 30% highway driving.
It's a great car, except for the poor ride over rough roads, bumps, etc. caused by the weak suspension set up. Some people don't mind it, but it is very noticeable in mine.

andyman32 I have a 3.8 liter V6 engine Azera 2006 with 11,200 miles on it. As you can see I don't drive much only mostly in the city were I work and play. According to the sticker that was on the window of my Azera when I bought it the est city MPG is 16-22 and highway MPG is 23-33

I have never gotten 33 MPG in the city and there is no way I can get over 30 MPG on the highway with a very lighfoot.

I use regular fuel (Shell) most of the time.

I didn't buy this car for the MPG as I alreay knew going in this was a larger car, heavier and gas milage wasn't a factor. I wanted a nice ride with extra room for my golf clubs plus extra features that came included in the price. Other models from other manufactures all the extras cost additional dollars. I like the drive the feel the look the style of the Azera. It does have some flaws like the key flob, suspension noise and now the dimming headlights. I had flaws on my Camry as well with back end noise that would drive me nutts and nothing could be done about it from the dealer. So there is always tradeoffs. The headlights are a concern but as far as MPG...well I alreay knew what I was getting into when I bought the Azera.

Sounds pretty good to me for that type driving. I had a V6 Camry that got about that in similar driving.

I just remembered to check this morning. Averaged over 71 hours & 10 min. of driving time, I averaged 22mph. All city. So these are the numbers that get me to 16mpg, + or - .5 depending upon the happy foot.

I rarely used the on board computer to check MPG. I rather use the onld fashion way with a paper and pencil. This way I get a true check as something the on board can be off depending on how much fuel is put into the car at the time of fill- up.

MY last car was a Camry V6 SE and I got around 21 in the city and 29 to 32 on the highway. Not bad but the car was lighter so helped.

I also never use the computer to calculate economy. I did use it for drive time and average MPH, which are both probably very accurate in the computer.

I wonder 1) if Lambda-II will have better fuel economy, more comparable to the Lexus 3.5L V6; and 2) if they'll drop Lambda-II into the '09 or '10 Azera (if such a thing even comes into existence; I certainly hope it does!).

What would be nice is to stick a small engine in the car, make it lighter and with better MPG the car will look more attractive for consumers who want a nice car and is either more affordable. All the other car manafactures do it and they sell more cars with the 4cyl so why not Hyundai. Offer two types of engine styles.

I'm also getting about 19 to and from work (21 Miles in Atlanta to and from work in heavy traffice) and 25 on the freeway driving to AL.

Still a great car '06 with 13K miles on it. Still love the car and enjoy driving it.

Well, I stand (happily) corrected; just filled up and got an even 17mpg. This tank included a few miles of highway though, not much, maybe a 20/80 mix of highway/city miles. Light on the happy foot but there were a couple of situations where I needed to push it.

Still, I can't explain how anyone could get 19 or 21 with the 3.8. Maybe if it's always very warm, and dry, and EXTREMELY flat where you live.... MAYBE...

I have checked my MPG using gallons used per pump vs. mileage travelled method a few times. It was either the same as the car's computer or a little better. I have also found out that different pumps will turn off differently and even the same one might, so this makes actual gallons used somewhat inaccurate.
My city driving is in a town of 4,400 with only stops at stop signs and little traffic, but then I only drive two miles or less before I reach my destination. When I was working in the big city, it was stop and go all the time and many, many stop signs and traffic lights and 10 mile drives.
Of course, there is also the debate that when it is cooler, the pump measures less than when it is warm.
Regardless, for the size of the car, what it has on it, and the advertised MPG, I am quite satisfied with it. Having two vehicles with four cylinder engines, I doubt one would perform very well and gas mileage would suffer because of having to push the car to get up to speed, pass, etc.

Yesterday I went on a road trip to Maker's Mark Distillery. It was a long day as I took a few wrong turns. But I made it down and back without problems. Sure is beautiful country down there.

Most of the driving was on highways expressways and two lane roads over hills and valleys. Not very much stop and go driving. I checked out the MPG on my Azera. 29.1 was the total when I returned home. I figured out the MPG by long hand and not the on board computer, however when I looked at the on board computer it was 29.4 MPG. I did have my Azera on cruse control most of the way down and back.

Really! Was it fairly flat driving? That's pretty fantastic, even the little highway driving I've done on mine I still didn't get any better than 23 or 24, filling up on both ends of the trip to avoid mixing in too much stop & go.

maker's mark... mmmm, yum...

Did you 'reset' the mpg counter? If you didn't you are probably adding miles to the low mpg trips that dealers do to rotate stock position, test drives, etc. See if that doesn't change your mpg. Unless you are really in a congested area you should get 20-22 in town and 28-31 on the interstate at resonable speeds.

it was a fairly flat drive with some hills but nothing over the top. No much stop and go just a straight shot. I did restet the MPG display and I must say I did get very good fuel milage. Tuesday I head back this time to Woodford Distillery.
