What do you guys do? Use a heat gun and remove? I would figure there is sticky crap left behind, what do you use to remove that? I want to take everything off except the hyundai symbol. Thanks, sorry I'm sure this has been brought up many times.

The way I did it... On a hot day just peel them off or use some fishing line or a high interest credit card. Then use goo gone and voila!.

Removing the badges is really easy. I did it in the summer when it was really warm outside. Then I used fishing line to pull all of the "Hyundai" "Sonata" and "V6" badges off as well as the stupid dealer badge. The glue is at its softest on warm summer days and you use the fishing line in a sawing (back and forth) motion to remove each letter. You may want to wait till summer to do it or use a blow dryer to warm the glue, which will take a little while.

However the fishing line does not get all the glue off, some is still left on the car. To remove this, you spray it with WD-40 to saturate the glue. Then when it's still wet with WD40, you use a soft rag (NOT A towel) to rub the area. The glue will come off. It just takes a little elbow grease and about 10 minutes...that should get all the glue off the car.

Finally, bc of waxing you will still see an outline of each badge on the car. To get rid of this you need a very soft rubbing compound to remove these outlines. Its just a matter of putting the compound on another rag and rubbing the area for a minute....this will remove the outline.

Finally, apply a coat of wax to each of the three areas. This will give each area that the badge was in a nice new shine. Afterwards you wont even be able to tell that your car had badges. I think my car looks slick without the badges.

Total time, about 30 minutes.

I did not remove the "H" in the center of the trunk b/c it is recessed into an oval and I didnt want to have to deal with the entire process of filling in that oval. But my car still looks so much better without the 3 badges I did remove.

Hope this helps.

If you have trouble with that..use a blow dryer and it works wonders..much easier than just doing it on a summer day. Fishing line works the best and i went over mine with the buffer to get all the glue off..pretty easy.

Yeah, I just finished removing the Hyundai badge on the left side. I like the Sonata and V6 although I would replace the V6 with the V33 badge. I may pull the Sonata badge off and put it somewhere else. Idk. But its easy, takes patience tho

If anyone that has debadged their car still has the Sonata letters around I could use the "S". I think the dealer lot guy broke the bottom part of the S off washing it. I noticed it a few weeks later when I was washing it. There was some of the adhesive still there so from a few feet away it was/is not very noticable.

Robert,

You might want to check Ebay - I just did and there's one for sale for about $7 shipped. For that little money, might as well just replace it. At least that way the emblem looks clean and in one piece.

its all personal preference... the V33 looks good too... i never bothered de-badging other than getting the dealer info off (although i am not against it).. luckily for me, the dealer info was only done with peelable tape, so it came right off with my fingers...

Why not just remove the Hyundai and Sonata and leave the H? Let 'em keep wondering what they heck your car is. Hehe.

It'll pull off - held on with double sided tape also. Just be careful not to scratch the finish if you will be using a small screwdriver or something in the process.

I painted mine black to match the rest of the car - looks much better than the chrome finish did.

All other rear badges were removed.

i used a heat gun from my work. It worked great, just used fingers to pull off. Be careful though the paint gets hot !

The dealer logo was the WORST, it left tons of horrible sticky stuff behind. The other logos goo I was able to just rub off.
